Default BRD should love this

Hardball

I just find it ridiculous that between his hernia surgery and reporting recently to the St. Lucie complex that Moises Alou was allowed by the Mets to go home. GM Omar Minaya said he had no problem with it and that Alou was told to ride a stationary bike and stay in general shape. But the Mets have money and a chunk of their season wrapped up in Alou. And they should have him under their supervision at all times during his rehab. The same goes for Pedro Martinez, who Minaya described as “in Florida.” That sure didn’t sound like he is constantly in St. Lucie under a Met trainer’s care.

Come on, Mr.Hat. A couple of leeches on the hamstring and some blood-letting and he'll be as good as new.

I guess I would take Sherman seriously, if I believed any major league team did this with any of their major league players, that is have them under constant supervision of their training staff.

I just do not believe that happens anywhere.

By the looks of it, they were supervising Duque as well over the winter. A better word is "monitoring", and IMO, the Mets suck at it.

All I will that this is a BAD, BAD job by the Mets, and this only backs up what I've thought all along that the Mets have no friggin' idea how to handle player injuries and the injured player pretty much has all the say so.

CONSTANT supervision? No, but it doesn't even sound like the Mets are even properly monitoring these situations.

This is Met trainer care. "Ride the bike, and try to stay in shape. See you in a couple of months, pal."

Does anyone see a pattern of lazy, lax and languid feeling surrounding this team from the top down?

Imagine the late 90's Braves: "The injured guy. Yeah. Uh... I can tell you what state he's in."

McCarthy reports that Pedro and Alou were spotted on the back nine at Pebble Beach.
