I know.

His slider/triple digit heat combination makes me want to cry like a 15 year old losing her virginity in the backseat of a Honda Accord.

Would you trade Noah Syndergaard, Rafael Montero and Domingo Tapia for CarGo? Joel Sherman of the Post made a wild preseason guess on that move.

No.

He's a just decent middle infielder offensively - .750 OPS - outside of Coors.

That's awful.

No. If anyone believes that he can put the same numbers up outside of Coors, then they should also believe that Granderson could do the same outside of Yankee stadium......

Beyond that he's had 1 season is his career that he's managed to play over 140 games and he's an .880 OPS player even with Coors. You want that kind of injury risk for the kind of money he's due, you might as well go sign Ellsbury in the offseason who solves a bigger need (leadoff hitter) for the Mets....

Motero, Sydegaard, Flores, D'Arnaud for Stanton?

Yes, mainly because its Dickey, Montero, and Flores for Buck & Stanton. Obviously Buck can't keep this up, but he's a damn good catcher if you had to rely on him for another couple seasons.

Mets finally have a decent farm system and you want to gut it in one trade for a guy who is going to be paid 200 mil in 2 years? Lets just roll with the prospects for now, spend some money in free agency then evaluate where we are after that. We can just sign 2 outfielders and bolter the bullpen and we wouldn't need to deal any of those guys. Teams that make these kind of deals are like the KC Royals who are grasping on for desperation and cant afford a top player in FA.

Well Sandy himself says that there has been no discussion with Miami about anyone. So once again Martino is blowing smoke. No doubt sandy is a racist for not wanting someone called Giancarlo.

It's irrelevent who was traded for those prospect and they should have no bearing on how you would view future trades.

Agreed, just putting it in different terms / ways of thinking about it.

If the Marlins wanted 4 minor leaguers for Stanton that are NOT Wheeler OR d'Arnaud, would you do it? I think you would pretty much HAVE to.

I doubt I'd be OK with dealing 4 prospects. Unfortunitely, this team is not in the position to go after a guy like Stanton yet. It's been said time and again in this thread, if the Mets were closer to contending then it would make sense. Right now, Stanton is not the difference in making this team a playoff contender so they should stay the course and hope that 1-2 years down the road these kids continue to develop enough where they'll THEN be able to go after that big player.

It's never easy to walk away from adding a star player but in this situation is probably the best course of action.
