| Super Moderator | I get a kick how the Mets and their selected media (*cough Cerrone *cough) are playing this to hilt. This is like them playing Santos up for being on the ALL Rookie team (or whatever that was), only then moments later to blame HIM for their pitching sucktitude. That's great that Martinez did this, but this doesn't answer the question if he can stay healthy AND produce at AAA. Also, as much a fan as I am of the Caribbean WS, the quality of talent and play has diminished greatly. Martinez was literally hitting off guys who really are going to be bagging groceries in a week. Like I said, nice that he did this, but too much is being made of it by the Mets. Here's to the kid staying healthy so that he can have a chance to succeed. |

| The kid put up an .870 ops at AAA as a 20 year old last year. He played like crap at the Major league level but that's because he was stupidly rushed. He shouldn't have been recalled till September.

| What I love is that a 20 year old bombs in limited at bats and people go nuts. David Wright doesn't do ****, be honest, for a YEAR and it's okay. I don't like booing and I also don't like bullshit. If a superstar is allowed to fail, among other star players, can we let a 20 year old fail and adapt? Jesus, our team produced TWO super players in 25 years and fans act like this is a system so superior, if a 20 year old is awful at first, he's garbage. I'm still waiting for a list of 5 20 year old outfielders, who missed a full year of development, who are stars and start off hot. I'll be waiting with all damn day for that answer, I am sure.

| You may be right but he's allowed to fail because he's earned that right. I hate that double standard. Let a player just go through the motions and stop playing favorites.

| And most of those motions were before they even got to CitiField.

| Eh, who knows... This kid needs to a full season in Buffalo in 2010 and needs to stay healthy. That will increase his value. I don't put much into the Caribbean Leagues because Anderson Heranandez always ends up with a .300 average every Winter... Dude can barely hit .250 in the bigs.
