| The fact they wont go into a full rebuilding mode is about 100th on the list of things that makes the Wilpons a poor ownership group. Yankee envy is about 1,000th on the list.

| We all know the Wilpons are amongst the worst, if not the worst owners in baseball. That's nothing new. Thw writer says the Wilpons are obsessed with the Yankees ? Um, No. Their obsession is the Brooklyn Dodgers, a team that's dead to New York.... and the Mets are doing a great job of replicating that. If the Wilpons were obsessed with the Yankees, they would learn how to build a team that knows how to win games. That's not us. Unless the Wilpons somehow turn a 180, overhaul this organization, and bring in smart management..... this franchise (at most) will continue to spin their wheels for a long time to come. |

| Super Moderator | The Mets are reminding me of the Brooklyn Dodgers every single day... Brooklyn Dodgers had that "oh shucks, we lost, it's ok the Yankees ass raped us again, we get 'em next year" shtick that their fans brought into hook, line and sinker... Every year, having to buy into the idea "hoping", "believing", "If", "maybe".... I think many Mets fans (ones that I know), are tired of being asked to drink the "believing" kool-aid. I want to see things DONE. As my Yankees fan friend likes to remind me, "While you Mets fans continue to believe, we Yankees fans... we already KNOW" -- and he's right. |

Also, players from that era had a MUCH different relationship with the fans than players today. It must have been alot easier to root for them, even if they were losing to the Yankees an awful lot. In comparison, know any Mets that actually live in a middle class neighborhood in Queens? But about the Mets, you're spot-on. I'm tired of having to hear how many improvements the team is going to make only to see essentially the same stuff dredged out onto the field for the past three (going on four) years. It isn't like things are looking up, either. And that's the thing that gets me the most frustrated. Somebody say something encouraging. | |
