| Heilman's push to change roles has received two important endorsements. Pitching coach Dan Warthen said, "I'm all for Aaron coming to Spring Training as a starter." The other came from manager Jerry Manuel, who said, "For Aaron's benefit and for us as a team, we have to explore that option." source MLB.com

| Yup, Bannister never had a one hitter (baby!).

| For all the crap he had to deal with in NY, Looper hasn't been a terrible 5th starter. If we could pawn Heilman off as a starter, we should be able to get more in return as he would be considered less than merely a "throw in". |

Things must not look too good on the FA market for the Mets... Btw, could you imagine if Heilman did make the rotation? How soon before Omar distances himself from the previous decision - "You know, that was Willie's and Rick's call. I, myself, have been a big supporter of Aaron's." | |

| If the Mets sign Rodriguez and Cruz/Lyons plus another middle reliever, I see no reason why Aaron shouldn't be given a shot at the rotation. If he does well and there's no fit, he's an awesome trading chip (because the Mets could always say to other teams, "We'll just put him back into our bullpen if you don't make the deal worth our while."). If he does stick, there would be no need to re-sign Pedro, it gives Niese more time, and they focus solely on the front end, #2 starter whoever that ends up being. With that said, I don't think it will work out well for him in the rotation, but who the f*ck knows with this team.
