Insane, I doubt it. Wright and Reyes are every bit as good as Utley and Howard. Those two hadn't done squat before 25. Already, Wright has had four years of .300, 25 HR, 40 2B and 100 RBI while Reyes has already broken the Mets all time stolen base record. So they are way ahead of the game and I suspect they'll only get better. So that's our two best players who, IMO, are equal to their two best. I guess the difference is that they have a third superstar in Rollins who was really only a super for one season in his life. But the jury is out on whether F Mart will ever be as good as him. I think my point is that they should keep him and find out instead of trading him.
As for Burrell, I included him but in reality, he's nothing special. He's a guy who has a career average of .260, has driven in 100 runs only twice and is a butcher in left. I see no reason to believe that one of Murphy or Evans couldn't be as good as him.
As for a Pelfrey and Hamels comparison, I can't say with any certainty that Pelfrey will become the type of pitcher that Hamels has become. That might be wishful thinking. However, I think he could be a very capable number two.
Again, I never said that our guys had accomplished what their guys did already. We're still very young. But I believe that Wright and Reyes, who have already done quite a bit, along with Murphy, Evans, F Mart and Pelfey are in the same class. The point is that they held onto their guys. Let's stop being short sighted and hold onto some young talent. Why do we always have to act like it's next year or bust? They are finally starting to develop quality players. Why trade them away?
