Post Maine has successful surgery

John Maine underwent successful arthroscopic shoulder surgery today at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery. Mets Medical Director Dr. David Altchek and Mets Team Physician Struan Coleman removed a lesion from the back of his shoulder socket. The Mets said Maine will begin throwing again in December.

Is there ever a routine surgery that is considered "unsuccessful" within hours after it was complete?
