Our goal is to get to the World Series, win the World Series, and continue to win it, but the bottom line is we can’t even get to the playoffs so we need to find a better way to work hard at this.”

Well, then, I totally expect Omar to make the bold, maverick move of ridding the team of core guys like Orlando Hernandez, Marlon Anderson, and Robinson Cancel. Maybe, if he REALLY has balls, Ricardo Rincon.

Was there an official reason as to WHY they had to give him a 4 year deal BEFORE the season ended? If it's kosher, why NOT wait until the season ends? It makes no logical sense at all. From the # of years to the timing, I cannot grasp if it's anything other than trying to show 'stability' heading into the new stadium.

I think Fred is dead set against any 'change' that can distract from/shake confidence heading into the new park.

What do you think?

It's not official, the years *MAY* change, but no new GM in their right mind would not hire their own coaches. Manuel coming back means Omar will.
