| Online Home of Gotham Baseball Magazine - The Met Who Would Be King Upgrade over Shrek and Schneider, costs nothing but money and would kick Carlos Voltraon's butt if they didn't get in line...not a fix by any means but maybe a start... |

| Please god... i'm sick and tired of over the hill vets. I suggest not acquiring anyone over the age of 30-32 or somewhere around there. Anyone else needs to go find a different nursing home to go suck at. |

| Obviously, his power is shot but he was hitting close to .300 with the Tigers midway through the year. I think I'd pass, though. With other offensive upgrades and a full year from Murphy, I don't mind Castro/Schneider hitting 8th. On edit: BRD brings up a good point though, regarding Castro's health.

| Schneider ended up palatable, and despite his defense not living up to its reputation he threw out roughly the same % of runners Pudge did. As much as I wanted him gone back in May, I have no problem with Schneider as the Mets' catcher in 2009. That said, I wouldn't have a problem with Pudge, either. At the end of the day neither catcher is anything to get super excited about.

| Pudge is no leader. His defense is(well was) ridiculously overrated. Imo there is no catcher that calls a worse game in all of Baseball than him. He will hurt not help the young pitchers. He is also a putrid hitter and has developed into a cancer in the clubhouse. Pitchers flat out refuse to pitch to him. Verlander and Bonderman both pretty much demanded to pitch to Inge instead of him. Mussina and Pettite flat out refused as well. Say what you will about Schneider but that never happened to him.

| I remember about 12 months ago the Mets deciding not to resign a former steroids using Catcher who's better days are far behind him. Why would they choose Pudge? This honestly rivals metboy98 in stupidity.
