Default Shea Stadium

Excellent article detailing alot of facts about the home of our Mets...some of the pictures bring back alot of memories of the old ballpark....

Great article, it brings back a lot of memories. To be honest, I used to actually go to Shea more in the 1960's than I have in the last ten years or so, so the rememberaces of how it used to be mean more to me than the memories of the last ten years or so.

Loved the old pictures of the metal "confetti."

Maybe I'm a softie, but that article sort of takes a bit of the edge off another Mets collapse. Those images of the 60s sort of ooze "they suck, but we still love our team. Wait till next year." Sad that that's a sentiment only for a bygone era.

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the first-place New York Mets.

Well, tied for first place in the NL East with the Phillies at 52-44. But with a 10-game winning streak, and with the way the Mets rallied for a 10-8 win over the Reds last night, it seems like only a matter of time before the Mets leave the rest of the division in the rearview mirror.
You ****ing knew it after reading that.

Same effect here. The images of the stadium from the 60's and 70's is like a trip back in a time machine.....

I miss the metal confetti. It added character to the park. I still remember that from when I was a kid.
