Default Is this still what makes it "fun" David?

Wright speaks after Fridays loss. Just a few days removed from telling us how "fun" this is.

"We have two games left and we have to win those two games to give ourselves a shot," David Wright said. "There's nothing you can really say that can express going through something like this. But it comes down to must wins for us down the stretch, and we have to dig down deep and get the job done.

"We had the opportunities. We controlled our own destiny and now we don't. But you can't sulk on what could have been. You have to focus on the next two games and hope for two wins."

Whatever. I mean, what is this "dig deep" stuff? This team should have been digging deep all month long. Let's face it, they blew it. Again. Not as badly as last year and with an even more flawed team, in my opinion, but they still blew it.

The Mets need two clutch wins and help from a Cubs team that is playing two absolutely meaningless games. Let me know when the first "offseason moves/WATP" thread starts.

It started.

You mean the Hilton post? Yeah, I just found it. Of course, mentioning Heilman as a potential starting pitcher left me gagging on my bagel.

There was also that nonsense that Careless Whisper said about hitting a "bump in the road with two weeks left"...

TWO WEEKS!!!

I know he was injured a lot but this team misses Cliff Floyd. Though he was never nearly as absent as Alou. They have NO leader presence.

There's something actually kinda sad about Pretty Boy taking this all on himself... again. We waited years for the organization to produce somebody like him, and now he's tainted. Either he leads the Mets to a championship at some point, or he'll always be A-Rod, only not as good as A-Rod.

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the first-place New York Mets.

Well, tied for first place in the NL East with the Phillies at 52-44. But with a 10-game winning streak, and with the way the Mets rallied for a 10-8 win over the Reds last night, it seems like only a matter of time before the Mets leave the rest of the division in the rearview mirror.
You ****ing knew it after reading that.

Agreed. The lack of ANYONE to take the bull by the horns, and kick this team's behind has been sorely missing. It's going to another one of the many reasons why the Mets will wind up with another very disappointing season.

I hope it will be addressed in the offseason, but I have no faith in Omar. I am sure Omar will be very busy working on getting us more overpriced, over the hill, lack of heart primadonnas in here.
