| I like how people point to the record before the Willie firing and subsequent improved play as though we should be feeling lucky and they were playing above their heads. Manuel got them playing how they SHOULD have been playing, that was what should have been expected from a team with this salary and core of Wright, Reyes, Beltran and Santana all season long. The fact that they have fallen back into losing baseball for the month of September is what makes it a collapse, not how far they had got in the division record. It's not like they're playing decent baseball and just being nudged out by a rival. They've played like walking turds against genuinely losing teams. They're what should be a good team playing like complete crap down the stretch. Again. That's a collapse. Again. This is pretty much all on Minaya. Again.

Okay, let me join the media bandwagon and say, "OMG!!, THIS IS A COLLAPSE...I DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING!!"" Does this make things any better. Hardly. As for ****ing the 2009 Mets, well let me see what Omar does to address bullpen woes, the loss of starting pitching, and lack of production from the bottom of the Mets lineup. If these things are not seriously addressed in the offseason (and I don't mean signing some latino ballplayer who is the cousin of the godfather of some friend of another friend that Omar played winter ball with in the Dominican Republic (N.B. I;m part hispanic), then will I join you in saying **** THE 2009 METS!!!

| I think the thing that gets to me the most is that up until last night, all the Mets had to do was WIN to stave off the Brewers. Now they have to rely on other teams to beat the Brewers and hope that they can beat the Marlins in these final two games. This month, had the Mets played with HALF the intensity and fire that the ELIMINATED Florida Marlins had for last night's game, they'd have clinched by now. Anyone who can possibly blame that on the fans should have all their writing credentials torn down with Shea on Monday. |

| We probably wouldn't be this bitter if they hadn't so spectacularly crashed and burned last year, let's face it.

| Super Moderator | I call it "the Mets failing to make postseason for the second year in a row when so much was expected"... that, IMO, is grounds for a GM to get sh!tcanned. All I am saying is if ain't Omar, it ain't Jerry, so it must be the players. If that is the case, I want to see things done about it this winter. |

Here's what I want to happen tomorrow: this bunch of losers should be booed all game long and when the past Mets come out to honor Shea, they should be wildly cheered. And these current ****ers should be nowhere to be seen for the ceremony. They don't deserve to stand on the same field with the likes of past Mets who gave their all. And Shea doesn't deserve to close with them around.
