| With the Mets losing tonight, manager Jerry Manuel said Johan Santana would start Saturday against Florida on three days rest. “I’m very concerned,” Manuel said. “We’ve put ourselves in a tough spot and we have nobody to blame for that but ourselves.” Manuel said Santana told him he wanted to pitch on short rest on Thursday. Santana [...] More... |

| I guess they had no choice, as the season is on the line tomorrow, but Santana threw a ton of pitches the other night, and I cant see him going very deep in the game. Even if Santana comes through and we live until Sunday, then we have to deal with Ollie. He's a mental midget, and will probably fold like my laundry. We had to suffer through the Glavine fiasco last season, and we may get a repeat with Ollie. Wonderful. How fitting would that be to end Shea, and our season ? You cant make this stuff up. |

| Ya nice Mets he only threw 125 pitches last start now your desperate and starting him on 3 days rest? Not only did you just blow the season, but now your trying to get the best pitcher in the Nl injured in meaningless games? God what are the Wilpons doing. |

| What's the difference? Unless they get back-to-back complete game shutouts from Santana and Perez, which would be one-in-a-million even if they both weren't on three days rest, the minute the bullpen enters either of these games it's over anyway. And Milwaukee will likely win the next two, rendering the whole thing moot. Best case scenario at this point is that the Mets miraculously pull out the next two games and Milwaukee splits. And then you've got Pedro on short rest in a one game playoff. Good f*cking luck. |

| Everything comes down to tomarrow....they must win with a Brewer loss. Sweet Lou is gonna put all his starters on the shelf come Sunday.

| You know, I bet Santana is really regretting getting out of Minnesota. That's a team that everyone wrote off and yet...they're in first place. Yup, the Twins are in first place with almost the identical record of the Mets and just 45% of the Mets Payroll. Yup...The damn Twins get more bang out of their buck than the Mets. Well Hell even the damn Rays. Good thing we have Omar to right this **** i mean ship. |

That said, he's been a bulldog the second half and I'm liking his going to Manuel and insisting he get the ball on short rest.

| I swear, this team was put on this earth to break its fans hearts. They can start Santana today AND tomorrow and it wouldn't make a bit of difference. The lineup simply isn't hitting. And when you stop to think about it, with the Mets' bullpen, the only way that they are going to win games at this point is to beat the tar out of the opposing pitchers. They needed to be scoring 7 or 8 runs a game to minimize the impact that the bullpen can have. Instead, the lineup as a whole has gone stone cold. Santana isn't the solution to that problem. |

Having said that, you're right, he has been one of the few bright spots for this team. | |

| Bad Decision, if you ask me. Pul out all the stops today and use any starter you can, then hope Santana go 9 on Sunday if you still have a chance. There's no way they make the playoffs, and I would have at least liked to see Shea go out with a neatly pitched game for once.

| I'm hoping for a rainout and a DH tomorrow - with the number of pitches Santana threw his last start, I doubt if he will be able to go very deep with short rest. I think their best hope is to have Santana go 8 or 9 in the first game tomorrow, and then have everyone available for the second game...
