Default IGT - 9/23/2008 - Mets vs. Cubs - New Team, New Year, New Rules

Jerry says you gotta go with the veteran.

And remember, if wasn't for Denny's dopey "birthday" IGT last year, I would have carried us all the way to the Promised Land. The lineups will be given to the umpire by special guest Willie Randolph, once he's done pleasuring himself at second base.

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the first-place New York Mets.

Well, tied for first place in the NL East with the Phillies at 52-44. But with a 10-game winning streak, and with the way the Mets rallied for a 10-8 win over the Reds last night, it seems like only a matter of time before the Mets leave the rest of the division in the rearview mirror.
You ****ing knew it after reading that.

Proven Crap had an 0-12 record starting IGT's last year. That and Castillo hitting second spells doom............

I can't believe Castillo is in the lineup after that f**king stunt he pulled. Management going by the numbers. If this was truly a 'meritocracy' he woud be in GUAM.

Metsblog is nothing but let's-pull-ourselves-up-by-our-bootstraps Knute Rockne bullshit these days:

Sorry to break it to you Braveheart - you don't play for the team. But go ahead and spout a few more cliches.

The team is dead... It's the smae old **** they were put there peddling last September...

Show me when this team can win a back against the wall game with the pennant race on the line and play like there's no tomorrow... Can't do it, right...

Here's more from Metsblog: On his blog, Keith’s Moustache, Tom notes the roots of his frustration with the 2008 Mets, including the lack of fan support.

Tom writes:

“The Shea crowd, somehow, is a spoiled child. They went in to this season mad about last year. They’ve thrown tantrums and booed and expected this team to make the playoffs as a foregone conclusion. What these idiots don’t realize is that they’re in the midst of one of the more awesome pennant races in baseball right now.”

“If not for last season, Shea would be rocking and rolling and the fans would be supportive and having a great time. Because last season gave the Met fan some sort of entitlement complex about getting to the post-season this year, they’ve decided to be as assy as humanly possible.”

…despite the condescending tone, i agree with tom in that the team needs the fans more than ever right now…how great would it be for them to be down by a few runs late in the game and to have a sellout crowd cheering them on instead of filing out to beat traffic…i have been as frustrated as anyone lately, but i can’t live in fear of the mets losing…it’s now or never, so if you’re headed out to shea in the next couple of days, make some noise, and stay until the end…just my two cents…
