Default Quotes from our pen....

Any of these quotes after Sundays game sound familiar?

"If the season ended today, we're going to the playoffs, right?" Joe Smith said. "We'll be all right."

"You know, we're up," said Schoeneweis, who surrendered Casey Kotchman's tying check-swing single in the eighth. "We're in a position that you want to be in. When you report to spring training, you want to be in a playoff race.

Oh, and Joe, contrary to what you may have believed while you were out on the mound earlier, the season does not end today....technically.

Sniffles has something to say too. To be in this position with seven games to go," David Wright said, "is something everybody would have signed up for at the start of the season."

That's freaking hilarious. He would actually have signed up for this just 6 months removed from the meltdown of 2007? Quick healer...

MetsBlog.com » Quote: The Momentum Kind of Slipped Away

Quote:
Schoeneweis, speaking to reporters after the game, said:

“There’s no explanation anymore. I just don’t know what to say…I just don’t know what to say.

“We’re not consistently making big pitches at big times. We do it one night, we don’t do it the next night. There’s really nothing more to say or explain or philosophize about. We’ve just got to get it done, somehow.”

David Wright, talking to reporters after the game, said:

“It was one of the games where you could feel, as the game went on, the momentum kind of slipped away.”

I can't blame this game totally on the pen. I mean the Mets had 1st and 2nd with no outs and failed to score both times - Pelfrey couldnt get a bunt down....Beltran for some stupid reason was trying to bunt.....and Church is a black hole in the lineup right now. That game should have been 6-7 to 3 going into the pen.

Have I been sleeping through games and not having any recollection of doing so? When have the "one night(s)" that the Mets' bullpen has been getting it done occurred?

I think he's referring to the 2 times Pelfrey went the distance

If he got it down we score. Up 2 runs 1st and 2nd no outs I didnt think it was a horrible play. If we're down 2 or 3 runs it would have been moronic but up 2 looking for a tack on not that bad.

The McGimpy does most things upside down: eats, sleeps (an average of 23 hours per day), mates, and gives birth. Because of the McGimpy's upside down life, many of the McGimpy's internal organs (liver, stomach, spleen, pancreas) are in different positions from other mammals. McGimpy sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the McGimpy goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

I don't know, SC. They're aren't paying Beltran 17 million bucks to move runners over. The guy goes for 30 and 100 every year. Drive the f*cking ball in a gap someplace.

With this pen after just failing to get in a run the previous inning..... I want the guy hitting .350 in Sept with 108 RBIs on the season swinging....especially since the guy behind him isnt even hitting .200 this month....

I'd probably have a different opinion if Beltran had been struggling or Church was on fire....but Church has been so bad in Sept that even if Beltran does get the bunt down I had no confidence he was going to get that run home.
