Default Does anyone still care?

Really. You had to know they were going to blow it today. Can you imagine this team getting through the next week and somehow ending up with a playoff spot? More importantly, do you care? I didn't feel a thing when the hammer dropped. Still don't.

Perhaps the most damning thing is this: no matter what changes - players, managers, front offices - they lose the same kinds of games to the same teams over and over and over and over again. If this team were really different - if this was to be the Mets team that finally came through in the end - don't you think they would have taken it to the Braves this weekend? Don't you think there would have been a new outcome?

Mets fail to build on their early lead, the bullpen starts to lose it, the manager panics, the floodgates open and the ninth inning comeback falls just short. Bobby Cox lights up his victory cigar and thanks God that no matter how bad things get, he'll always have the Mets to kick around.

Same as it ever was. We know it, and they know it. I wouldn't be surprised if this pennant race was already over in the clubhouse.

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the first-place New York Mets.

Well, tied for first place in the NL East with the Phillies at 52-44. But with a 10-game winning streak, and with the way the Mets rallied for a 10-8 win over the Reds last night, it seems like only a matter of time before the Mets leave the rest of the division in the rearview mirror.
You ****ing knew it after reading that.

watching them get clobbered 3 straight, with the 3rd game obviously being the last ever Shea game, would be worse than watching them blow another September.

Mets really need a home field advantage to get through next week. Crowd needs to be pumped up from the get go not just sitting on their hands waiting for the pen to blow it.

The McGimpy does most things upside down: eats, sleeps (an average of 23 hours per day), mates, and gives birth. Because of the McGimpy's upside down life, many of the McGimpy's internal organs (liver, stomach, spleen, pancreas) are in different positions from other mammals. McGimpy sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the McGimpy goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

I agree that the pen needs that most of all, but unless the media starts touting it, or the Mets actually plead to the fans on Diamondvision... its not going to happen. It wasn't even happening in April, and it definitely won't happen with the season on the line.

Anyone doubting that the Brewers "find their way" and rattle off a 5 game winning streak?

I don't... it would be apropos for the Mets and their fans...

I think I watched a grand total of 5 minutes of the last two games.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

As the **** storm was going down I was much more interested in the end of the Giants game.
I didn't really care today but I expect that to change this week

The Brewers are a ****ing disaster right now. ALL of baseball thinks that firing Yost was asinine and it's showing on the field.

I'm more concerned with the Marlins coming to Shea next week needing 2/3 or even a sweep to get the wild card or at least tie for it.

If the Mets can man up and take 3 from the Cubs, that's not a concern even if the Marlins win every game between now and Friday.

Yeah. Sure.

Lilly, Harden, Zambrano, Marquis.

Oh, and the Mets will be tossing 3 lefties, including a guy in his 3rd ML game. And then there's Martinez......

One, MAAAAAAAAAAYBE two.

# of pitches I watched or listened to today: 0

Spent a long day out with friends. One guy was getting text updates, but when it got to the bottom of the 8th, I told him to stop once I heard 5-4 and then not to bother with the Phillies game.

I might watch the first two innings tomorrow and then switch over to Heroes. I don't give a flying **** about these losers.
