Hat - $10 mil is a huge factor. It's easy to say just pay the money and we'll deal with it down the line. But, it's more then just paying either of those WR's. It's about the team. Paying a new guy that kind of money sends a bad message to the guys who have built what this team is about.

So, while I agree that either of those guys would enhance the chances of another SB, I fully understand why they passed - if in fact either was available for that pick.

As for the picks.

Love Barden. Huge kid who had some big time production. Talk has him as a Keyshawn Johnson clone and he offers the big target this team needs with the loss of Burress. 36 TD's the last 2 seasons in college.

Don't know much about Beckum. Was hoping they'd move up to get Rashard Anderson - safety - when I saw him still available in the mid 90's. Smallish kid at only 5'11'' but hightly productive.

Yup...mentioned above that Barden is the guy I wanted in the 3rd round...very happy to see him there. I think that's a steal. You put Barden in there and it makes me much more comfortable about drafting Nicks.

Another guy who I thought was a surprise to still be there was Andre Brown. Very nice 3rd back pickup there IMO.

I really dont know much about the rest of the guys the Giants drafted in the later rounds.

Meh...this team is about winning. I think the rest of the team knows either of those guys help them win tremendously. They were willing to pay Plax a good chunk of cash despite being a complete distraction so *shrug*

Doesnt really matter at this point tho the combination of Nicks and Barden makes me much happier about the WR spot for the Giants anyways.

Thanks for the updates on this draft. At this point, all I care about is them staying healthy. Just give us that and I am happy (ha, you know what I mean)

I feel this team has the right attitude going into last year and they will NOT feel entitled and will want to destroy every conference rival.

Honestly, I don't known a whole lot about Barden other than he's big and fast enough -- but from the sounds of things he's pretty raw, I wouldn't expect to see him out there other than the red zone until he can develop some more. Beckum is the guy I liked, I watched a lot of Big 10 football and he's by far the best tight end in the conference. He catches EVERYTHING and can jump out of the building -- I saw him like a Chris Cooley type player but a much better athelete.

And the only other player I've heard of after the Andre Brown pick was Rhett Bomar who was a big time player with the Sooners but got in trouble for accepting money from boosters and transferred to a DIV 2A school.

I agree on this, but to me, that's huge because the Giants without Plax aren't a great red zone team. Having a 6'6" WR, with great hands, who can jump out of the building is HUGE in those spots. What he lacks is break away speed and route running experience....so yeah he's definitely a project in terms of being an every down guy, but when all you have to tell him is go straight for 10 yards and jump....tremendous advantage for the Giants.

I'm hoping guys like Nicks, Manningham, and more involvement from Hixon and Bradshaw can give the Giants a little more big play ability than they've had in the past from the receiving core, but I was very worried what this team would do inside the 20 without a big WR....Barden is the answer to that question IMO.

Good to know about Beckum. I'm vaguely familiar with him, but never really paid that much attention
