| The exact player we draft up to get is not the focal point, we could trade up and get anyone who is slipping. One of the OT's, either of the USC linebackers, etc. The prospect and 85 is better value than Edwards and the late 2nd IMO. |

| Senior Member | Except if 85 decides not to show up 1/2 the time. Gets his teammates pissed at him and goes on to catch 50 passes for 500 yards. Replacing Plax with a guy who's even more selfish and full of attitude problems is not the way to run a winning football team. |

| Who wouldn't ***** and whine that they want to leave the Bengals? For all his showboating, 85 has always seemed like a pretty good teammate and fun guy to watch. He doesn't have half the off the field issues of Plax. And like I said, he's so desperate to get out of Cincy that he'd probably play good soldier for a year or two until he's no longer needed. |

As for the rest of it, people said the same of Plax. As Dak so nicely outlined in the other thread that didnt really turn out to be the case.

| Jesus, yeah he's a bit of a character but to compare him to TO or Burress in terms of disruption to the team? Not even close. From what I can tell, 85 has never been in trouble with the law and does a lot for the community in Cincy. Yes, I was wrong about Plax but the way he played on leg in 07 without complaining, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt -- obviously it was revealed there were a lot more issues after his release. |

As for Johnson, in the unlikelihood that he'd only cost the late 2nd round pick I'd have no problem if he was brought on. I do not question his talent or that he'd fall in line. I do question that he'd be obtained that cheaply.

| As was thought, this deal is total BS. It's at a point on these boards that everyone is so enamored with breaking news that they don't care if the news is actually accurate. Per PFT.com A rumor is making the rounds that the Browns might soon send receiver Braylon Edwards to the Giants, for a first-round pick and a fifth-round pick. Several readers have pointed this one out to us, attributing it to ESPN 950 in Philly. One of the producers we know at ESPN 950 has explained that drive-time host Mike Missanelli was merely commenting on a video speculating on the situation, and that ESPN 950 isn’t “reporting” anything about a possible trade. As one source with knowledge of the discussions tells us, any talks between the two teams would properly be characterized as “exploratory.” The problem, as the source explained, is that the Browns want a lot for Edwards, and that Edwards wants a lot by way of a new contract. The source tells us that the Browns are believed to be requesting at least a first-round pick and a third-round pick for Edwards — which makes sense since the Cowboys gave up a first-round pick, a third-round pick, and a sixth-round pick for former Lions receiver Roy Williams and a seventh-round pick. Also, Edwards (who is entering the final year of his rookie contract) is looking for a Larry Fitzgerald-style deal, with a value of $10 million per year. As the source points out, Edwards is no Fitzgerald. If he were, the Browns wouldn’t be willing to even discuss trading him. So barring a major change in the position of the Browns and Edwards, the Giants won’t be biting on Braylon. |

| Looks like POTENTIAL deal may be on LIFE SUPPORT..or just a matter of WHO will blink first.. Source: Cost too high, Giants likely won't trade for Braylon Edwards Barring a last-minute drop in the Cleveland Browns' asking price, the Giants do not expect to acquire the big receiver, according to a source familiar with the situation. Giants GM Jerry Reese has told the Browns he will not give up the Giants' first-round draft pick (29th overall) for Edwards, and the Browns apparently won't take less. The Browns have asked for the Giants' first- and third-round picks - far more than the second- and fifth-round picks the Giants have offered. They had also previously asked for Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka, although the Giants told them that was a deal-breaker. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kiwanuka + a #1 would be idiotic..but a #2 and a #5 Offer is just as insulting for Braylon as well..considering where the Gints pick (late) and the price that was given for R. Williams by Dallas who is older..I think a #1 and 3 is reasonable....

Definitely not for Kiwi and a 1. Honestly they probably meet somewhere between the 1 and 3 and 2 and 5. 1 and 5 or Something like that and I'd be fine with that even knowning Edwards needs to be paid down the line. Remember all these pre-draft deals are dead...until draft day comes and the guy(s) the Giants or the Browns wanted are off or rumored to be off the board by the time they get there....or someone else they didnt expect to be there is available. The Giants definitely dont have to overpay for him tho, this draft is deep in WRs....and on the flip side its overall a weak draft where the Giants have a ton of picks they can't keep anyways so I dont see why Reese would be married to keeping all his picks. Typical cat and mouse game that they have to play...because should they pull it off early then it gives a clearer route for the Eagles to make a play on Boldin. Right now both sides get to try to drive the prices up for the other there.

| YUP...its pretty much the way I'm seeing it too..But still think a #1 is not SOOO crazy to be given up..its practically a HIGH #2..in the end...Clev. probably blinks and gives in a tad..but i would be shocked if its for a 2nd rounder..

| Boldin can be had for a second, no excuse to overpay for Edwards now when a better receiver can be had for cheaper. KFFL - Anquan Boldin, WR, Arizona Cardinals |

| This is an extremely irritating thread title by the way.
