Default Greatest Movie Scenes of all time...

Alright I have nothing else better to do and want to get this forum jumping again so let's start with a simple question. What is the best scenes of all time. I can think of two right away that jump to my mind. First, the steady cam shot entering the Copa in Goodfellas. Simply brillant. You learn everything you need to know about the characters in that scene and Ray Liotta is so god damn cool. Supposedly, the real Henry Hill cameos as one of the chefs in that scene (if you watch it, he is the one that has his back turned to the camera, who Liotta kind of stops at and looks over his shoulder). The second scene is the drug deal scene in Boogie Nighs. With Jessie's Girl and Sister Christian blaring in the back ground it is just an utterly absurd and fantastic scene.

You could almost put the entire Godfather movie up for nomination but if I had to pick one scene it's Michael taking care of all the family business juxtaposed with baptizing Connie's baby.

Agreed. I also really liked the "I knew it was YOU, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart" scene" from GF II

Farcical as the whole movie is, I'm still rather partial to the scene where Tony takes over in Scarface, capping Frank and the dirty cop. Pacino is a genious.

On the Waterfront when Marlon Brando confronts Lee J Cobb and then beaten and battered leads the longshoremen to the loading docks, I just love that movie and had to pick a scene. Oh and all the scenes in Bedazzled with Raquel Welch.

The McGimpy does most things upside down: eats, sleeps (an average of 23 hours per day), mates, and gives birth. Because of the McGimpy's upside down life, many of the McGimpy's internal organs (liver, stomach, spleen, pancreas) are in different positions from other mammals. McGimpy sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the McGimpy goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

- The final scenes in the Field of Dreams and Shawshank.

- Rocky II, when Apollo is talking trash about Rocky on TV. Mickey shows up at the door and says to Rocky "Lets knock his block off" and Rocky replies "absolutely."

- Raiders of the Lost Ark, in the bazaar, when Indy is confronted by the sword wielding guy who goes through all the theatrics, and Indy pulls out a handgun and shoots him dead.

- The long view of Omaha Beach from the heights above in Saving Private Ryan.

- The scene in Jeremiah Johnson, where Jeremiah finds Del Gue buried up to his neck in the sand, and when he asks Del "Are you all right?" he answers, "Sure, sure, I got a fine horse under me."

Kramer vs. Kramer - when the lawyer goes at Joanna and asks her "were you a failure at the longest, most important personal relationship in your life?" a few times until she can barely whisper back a "yes" through her tears, and then the camera goes on Ted shaking his head and mouthing "no".

Crap - just writing that made me cry. Dustin Hoffman was so good in that.

The first time I saw the Russian Roulette scene in Deer Hunter I could barely watch. Intense intense intense. Nowadays that's sitcom material.

Dunno. I can't think of anything in twenty-five years that matches that intensity.

Ok. Except for the icecap melting scene in An Inconvenient Truth. That was a real cliffhanger.

yeah that tops the intensity list. I love the final scene of Gladiator when they carry Maximus' dead body out of the Coliseum and leave Caesar there to rot

For years, I've been trying to explain to people why I think that scene is so amazing... no one else I know seems to enjoy it on the level I do.

Great call!

I'll come up with some other scenes, and post later.

Obviously the scene in the Untouchables in the train station is pretty epic, but I think the scene where Connery's character (Jim Malone) dies is pretty intense and well-done.
