| I thought the first episode was pretty good as well (however far fetched the medical-MacGyver crap is). Heck, as long as they stay in the Hamptons and have supermodels in every episode, how could this fail? I'm gunna keep watching.

I suspend disbelief during TV and movies. Why in ****'S name does someone entertain him/herself by picking about the plot devices and special effects? Just watch the ****ing show! (not to YOU specifically, but to *******s like Mule who blast Independence Day - the greatest movie of all time.)

| We had the ID4 discussion last year, when I first said that I get choked up when Randy Quaid says goodbye and flys his plane into the big spaceship. Then I told you I was just messing with you and that the damn movie stunk. It still stinks... frikkin' ripoff of "War of the Worlds" Anyway, I do agree with you about the suspension of disbelief.

| Yeah, I know it's supposed to be "mind boggling" but ever since I saw Blades of Glory I slip and say "mind bottling" like Will Ferrell. It's awful.

| The two stories were "mind bottlingly" similar, except instead of a virus getting the baddies, in ID4 it was a computer virus that got 'em.

| I rarely agree with Frank, but often disagree with Mule. ID is a decent movie that I've seen at least 25 times and it just keeps getting better and better. It has a subtle touches of brilliance... like the way the clothing on the WH chick is uptight at first, but casuals-up scene after scene as she gets more enamored with Goldblum, until she winds wearing the same muscle tee and flannel in the final scene that's he's been in the whole picture. Plus, it's infinitely quotable! "Look at you! Ship all banged up!" I am reigning in my enthusiasm right now. I could go on for ages. Last edited by shatner : 06-12-2009 at 11:16 PM. |

are YOU breaking my balls too? I'm watching ID4 for the 200+ time this afternoon on A & E I think, and if you're breaking my balls too I don't think I could handle it.... David Levinson: We're hit! We took a hit! Captain Steven Hiller: [yelling] We're not hit! We're not hit! Stop side-seat driving! David Levinson: [trying to make a break for the exit] Left! Left! Tunnel! Tunnel! Exit! Exit! Left! Captain Steven Hiller: Where the hell do you think I'm going? David Levinson: Ok, ok We're we're we're uh... David Levinson: Uh oh they're closing up on us... they're closing... Captain Steven Hiller: Shut up, shut up, shut up! David Levinson: Must go faster. Must go faster! Must go faster! Go, go, go, go! Captain Steven Hiller: [escapes from the alien ship] [screaming] Captain Steven Hiller: Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! Captain Steven Hiller: Oh! Elvis has left the building! David Levinson: Oh, thank you very much. Oh, I love you man! TELL me you're not whiteknuckling your couch during that scene?? [the President briefs the pilots before the final attack] President Thomas Whitmore: Good morning. [PA doesn't work. Turns it on] President Thomas Whitmore: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day! [crowd cheers] Or that you aren't standing up and cheering during THIS monologue. Gen. Gray: Mr. President, I'd sure like to know what you're doing. President Thomas Whitmore: I'm a combat pilot, Will. I belong in the air. Or that you don't wish that THIS guy was our President. [David Levinson: Hey, take a look at the earthlings. Goodbye! Captain Steven Hiller: Y'all take care, alright, 'nothing but love for ya. I ain't got nothing by love for ya. [to David] Captain Steven Hiller: You think they have any idea what's about to happen to them? David Levinson: Not a chance in hell. Goodnight! I'm giving that alien the double middle finger with a smirk on my face EVERY. DAMNED. TIME. here. [Russell Casse needs an opening to attack during the final battle] President Thomas Whitmore: Okay, boys, let's give Mr. Casse some cover. Gentlemen! Let's plow the road! Chills of hope up my spine everytime. Russel Casse: All right, you alien *******s! In the words of my generation: Up Yours! Russel Casse: Ha-ha-ha! Hello, boys! I'm back! Right there? History's greatest hero. Major Mitchell: What your father did was very brave. You should be proud of him. Miguel Casse: I am. If you aren't crying here you have no soul. Independence Day is the greatest movie ever made. Period. End. Of. Story. **** ALLA ya'alls.

Vivica Fox gyrates on a pole in her underwear. That's enough to vault it from a general top 5 to straight up #1.

| I actually was not making fun of you, Frank. I genuinely love Independence Day. It's so wonderful and bad at the same time, it's awesome. You forgot my favorite lines, though. I kind of quasi-remember them: Randy Quaid: "I can fly. I'm a pilot." Randy Quaid's son: "Pull over, man." Bill Pullman (with Academy Award-winning delivery): "Isn't it interesting how quickly they turn against you..." as he reads his morning briefing from USA Today. |
