Default the Hangover

Go see it. It's a way more intense/graphic version of "Old School".

I thought it was hilarious. I really like the direction these new comedies are going, for the most part... Though this is a Todd Phillips film, you can see the Apatow formula all over this one. Apatow, like him or not, has changed comedy for the better. Over-the-top (often gross-out) hilarity combined with characters that are actually involved in semi-real relationships, people you can root for, and emotions you can identify with.

This one was raucous, fast-moving, and laugh-out-loud funny. Some great lines and unforgettable characters (especially the strange brother-in-law).

Worth checking out, for sure.

To gauge how these reviews mesh with my own sensibilities - do either of you like Jim Breuer? Because I thought the previews looked very good, but the "...and Jim Breuer" at the end was a red flag. If you guys are Jim Breuer fans, I'll wait to see it on tv. If not, then the movie must transcend his participation so maybe I'll rent it (if I can get a baby sitter, I'm not wasting $50 on a movie - we're going out for dinner).

I loved it...Jim Breuer was in it?

Loved the wolf pack speech, classic.

Definitely. There were some great lines, but I felt that Zach Galifianakis' character (Alan) was so incredibly and hilariously awkward that he made the movie. The Rain Man scenes (when he refers to him as a "reh-tard" in the car and then later in the movie) were hilarious. Although my favorite line was totally dead pan from him as Ed Helms is ranting and raving outside of the car, Alan goes, "Your language is offensive." If you notice, Galifianakis doesn't swear throughout the entire movie while the two other lead guys are dropping the F-bomb every other line.

Seeing the Wedding Singer from Old School again was good sh*t too.

I hate to admit it, but I rarely see movies in theater twice especially comedies and I went and saw this again last night. I came away the first night very satisfied, but I could hardly remember anything I laughed at. I went again, laughed just as much, and have a much greater appreciation for the movie even if it is a comedy.

Like KoQ said, very much in the Apatow realm of comedies.

Like I said, I've seen it twice and I don't remember seeing Jim Breuer in any of it. Also, I just read through the credits on IMDB and he isn't on there either, so I don't know what you saw. I've seen a million previews for it on TV and I don't recall him ever being associated with it. Are you sure you're not confusing him with Ed Helms, they kind of look alike?

But to answer your question, no, I am not a fan of Jim Breuer. Although, I do enjoy watching Half Baked every now and then for a good laugh, but that's mostly because of Chapelle.

I'm more likely confusing two movies than Jim Breuer for someone else. But since you don't like him either plus he's not in it - then I can trust these reviews.
