Enterprise was uneven. It had its high points and its low points. It finally seemed to hit its stride during the fourth season, which was by far its best. The ironic thing is that it was canceled after its best season.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about Enterprise, aside from the awful, non-Star Trek opening music lol.
eh, I loved the premise...but for what was supposed to be a super old-school ship it still seemed too modern. I guess I thought it would look more like a submarine on the insides. Early on, I liked that things like starfleet, transporters, phasers seemed new and exciting....but they kind of let that spirit die a few seasons in. What could have been original and adventerous kind of wound up being like any other sci-fi.

More importantly, the plot really dissappointed me. I dont want to see a show that takes place before TOS, then adds in a whole bunch of new species...the whole Xindi thing just got annoying after a while. Its early Star Trek, Id rather see early relations with Klingons and Vulcans, not adding in some new aliens from the great beyond. Then they added a whole temporal civil war and time travel and meeting with star fleet from the future....Its a show about the "old times" so to speak, why deviate from it by adding in stuff from the future?

i hear what you mean about other races, however in star trek and TNG there is never really a huge discussion of all the races in the Federation.

I don't think Enterprise predates the original Star Trek by too much. The pilot episode of the original Trek series features the same "Jonathan Archer" character (not Kirk) as Captain of the Enterprise.

Hmm, so does that mean this guy Pike in the movie is a new character that contradicts the pilot of the original series?

I may as well turn in my geek button and retire.

"The Cage" which was the pilot for the original series featured Captain Pike, not Captain Archer. My bad!

Does anyone know if this film is going to have a big budget? I was skimming Memory Alpha last night and discovered that a lot of Trek films have been held back by low budgets. For example, Star Trek X was originally supposed to have a big fleet battle, but ended up being like 4 ships. In Star Trek V there were a number of special effectfs cut out, adding to its overall crappiness. I wonder how some of the films would have turned out with a star wars budget.

Basically because the creator made the TV show and the universe and the timeline. Since his death, it hasn't been fun for them.

As for myself. As long as the reboot sticks to what the original setting is to please the long time fans, it's all good. We don't want any HORRIBLE reboots.

Ok - same trailer, with a different ending.

Now, I'm seriously geeked out over this:

WOW!!! Okay, I'm one of these guys who tries to avoid too much info before seeing a movie, but is Nimoy playing a really old Spock, or is it just a cameo?

I can't wait until my next extended weekend. Borrowing my sister's account I set up the Netflix instant streaming deal on my XBOX. I found Star Trek:TOS Season 1 in the HD section. I've always wanted to watch through chronologically. Particularly TOS and TNG, however I hate that the season sets cost so much more than most other TV shows.

Nimoy is playing an older Spock. I'm not sure if this movie is told via flashbacks, or if there is time travel involved.

Skip most of seasons 1&2 of TNG. Most episodes were pretty bad IMHO.

I agree = TNG started hitting its stride in season 3 - the cliffhanger episode is a must see.
