The GCL Mets finished there season at an even .500, 27-27. There is talent down there that will go a long way in determining the state of the Met system over the next several years. Third Basemen Jefry Marte was by far the teams best hitter at 17, but Alonzo Harris is one to keep an eye too. The 19 year old OF put up a .308/.379/.510 line out of the leadoff spot, with five HR's in 104 AB'ss. Marte and Harris should be ready for full season ball next year...

Final Team Leaders:

OBP - Jefry Marte (.398)
SLG - Jefry Marte (.532)
HR - Alonzo Harris, Jeffrey Flagg (5)

WHIP - Robert Carson (0.74)
SV - Samuel Martinez (4)
K - Kyle Allen (45)

BA Chat:

Quote:
Brian (Brooklyn): What kind of hitter does Wilmer Flores project to be, top of the order or middle of the order? Also where does he end up plying defensively?

SportsNationn Jim Callis: I think more middle of the order, because there's a good deal of power in there. His ceiling -- and I stress that he's a LONG way from his ceiling -- is Miguel Cabrera. I think he gets big enough that he slides over to third base.
