Lastings Milledge was placed on the minor-league disabled list today after he was diagnosed with a strained ligament in his right foot. Milledge was batting .333 (13-for-39) with a double, home run and five RBI in 11 games at Triple-A New Orleans. His seven-game hitting streak ended Monday, when he was forced to leave the game in the second inning because of foot discomfort. Milledge flew back to New York and had further tests, including an MRI, on Wednesday.

Some other stuff from Adam Rubin. Some of the Baby Gnats are proving in over their heads, and should be in Brooklyn later this Summer. Lagares could be one to watch...

http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/met...ieses_nic.html

Quote:
The Mets moved highly regarded 18-year-old shortstop Juan Lagares from Savannah to extended spring training in Port St. Lucie. Lagares had a .222 average in 22 games. He also led all minor-league shortstops with 12 errors – actually, he was tied for that distinction with Great Lakes’ Preston Mattingly, Don’s son. Jake Eigsti replaced Lagares with the Sand Gnats. …

Ryan Cullen moved to New Orleans from Binghamton and Eddie Camacho joined the Zephyrs from St. Lucie to bolster the bullpen...

Outfielder Joe Holden and righthander Ryan Meyers joined Savannah, replacing outfielder Jonathan Sanchez and southpaw Todd Privett...

The B-Mets added righthander Mike Swindell from St. Lucie to take Carp’s roster spot. He’ll start one game of a doubleheader against Akron tomorrow – the first of consecutive twinbills to make up a lost opening-week road series...

Guerra update:

Mets prospect Deolis Guerra was shut down because of shoulder tendinitis.

The 18-year-old Guerra is expected to miss at least a couple of starts. "He came up with a little tendinitis in the shoulder and we decided to be careful with it," Mets VP of player personnel Tony Bernazard said. "We're going to take our time."
