Default BJ Ryan out for season with TJ Surgery

Quote:
B.J. Ryan-R- Blue Jays May. 10 - 3:37 pm et

B.J. Ryan underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday, ending his season.

Dr. James Andrews said last month than Ryan didn't need surgery, but a reexamination apparently found something different. The Jays hope Ryan will be ready for the start of 2008, but setbacks are a possibility. Jason Frasor, Jeremy Accardo and Casey Janssen are all candidates for saves in the Toronto pen.
Werent there[sic??] people last year who wanted this guy instead of Wagner?

Gotta love that the Blue Jays lied about his injury in the first place, then this happens. That should be one pissed off fan-base.

Injuries can't be predicted.

Duquette traded for one pitcher with torn up shoulder. Maybe he signed one too?

there were a lot of people clamoring for Ryan and a lot of people ****ting on Wagner and the position was Wagner's age made him more likely to be hurt than Ryan.

truth is BRD is right, you can't predict injuries, never the less watching Ryan was anyone surprised this guy blew his arm out?

I have to admit that I would have taken Ryan over Wagner if all things had been equal, but that contract made it pretty easy to pass up. The best thing about Wagner is that lefties still can't hit him, and taking away hitters from one side of the plate is still a valuable thing to have. BJ did help get him at least an extra year though...

I supported signing Wagner over Ryan, not that I would have minded Ryan, but it wasn't because I suspected Ryan would need TJ surgery. The health of Ryan's elbow was never called into question, at least on the MOFO.
