I'd say he had an outstanding career, without question. However, there are many pitchers with better stats that haven't gotten in. If Bert Blyleven isn't in, no way does a pitcher like Cone even get close. Same with Hershiser.

didn't he have cops waiting for him at the clubhouse to book him after his 19 strikeout game? Was that the last game of a season?

I've never seen a pitcher make the opposition look more ridiculous than Cone did that day.
