| No, they won't be asshats, but this much is true- they'll suck as bad as a team whose 1-2-3 SPs are Pedro Martinez and two 15 game winners possibly could. We'll be as embarrassed by a lineup of Reyes-Castillo-Beltran- Wright as the top four as we were by the Mets of 1979, 1995, or 2002. Never will an 89 win team be such a disappointment. Why? Because this is a team on the cusp of greatness; so close to being the cream of the national league, yet still to be regarded as something of a joke. So- without further ado "Your 2008 New York Mets- They Don't Suck!" |

| I think it will be tough for this team to embarass itself and its fans on the kind of grand scale it did in 2007... I think 2008 has many, many tinier embarassments in store for us. Things like Wright and/or Reyes talking "hypothetically" about what it would be like to play somewhere else, or Delgado stylin' on fly balls to the warning track, or Santana no-hitting the Mets during an interleague game with the Yanks while Colon/Lohse/whoever gets his brains beat in, or Milledge hitting like 10 homers in 19 games against the Mets, or Wagner forcing a trade by burning some bridges through the press... nothing too massive, but stuff just depressing and just frequent enough to make it torture. |

But hey, they got position players to help the pitching. As you do.
