When I first saw it I thought it said the mets signed Rick Wise. I'm relieved we're not getting that old.

At the very least, this allows us to flash back to one of the most dignified moments in Mets history.

"Our partnership with Wise snacks is a home run," said Mets Senior Executive VP and COO Jeff Wilpon. "Nothing signals the arrival of summer more than watching Mets baseball and enjoying delicious Wise snacks."

Plus there will be endless opportunities for "Willie didn't make the 'Wise' choice" jokes (or for later in the season, "Interim Manager Jerry Manuel didn't make the 'Wise' choice" jokes).

No complaints here, the more there are to compete for the bullpen just incase Sanchez does not work out yet again the better off the Mets are. It's a 1 year deal so he's not going to be shoved down our throats due to his contract if he's bad.

No, that was Matt White.

I like this signing. Matt Wise has been good more often than he's been bad. He's a reasonable reliever for the sixth and seventh innings.

Too bad they didn't get Matt White.

He could've bought out Freddie and traded all of the "prospects" for Johan Santana.

He'd be acquiring a legitimate ace AND freeing up a rotation slot for himself.
