Default Renewal Letter

Key Points of the letter:

Quote:

Our Ownership is fully committed to provide the resources, both short- and long-term, to field a championship-caliber team. For 2008, this means building upon the nucleus of our club - All-Stars Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes and David Wright; and a pitching staff anchored by Pedro Martinez,
"El Duque," 15-game winners John Maine and Oliver Perez, and All-Star closer Billy Wagner. To date, we have strengthened our lineup by re-signing our mid-season acquisition, second baseman Luis
Castillo, and filling two key positions with outfielder Ryan Church and catcher Brian Schneider. Omar and our baseball staff are exploring every opportunity to continue to improve the team through trades, free agent signings and player development.
I had a feeling the met offices were located in Medford.

Quote:

Citi Field, our new world-class home, will bring fans closer to the action with superior sightlines and unparalleled amenities throughouthe ballpark. Full Season Ticket Holders for 2008 will have priority in purchasing Full Season Tickets for Citi Field in 2009, before any determination is made on the use of remaining seating inventory. lf you are interested in upgrading to Full Season tickets for
2008 to assure this priority for 2009, please complete the enclosed Upgrade Request Form and submit it in the return envelope with your Ticket Plan renewal invoice and payment.

Unfortunately, the Wilpons feel that a world class team shouldn't be playing in it...

And LMAO at them for having El Duque featured prominently in that letter.

Geez, they really have no clue.

"To date, we have strengthened our lineup by re-signing our mid-season acquisition, second baseman Luis Castillo, and filling two key positions with outfielder Ryan Church and catcher Brian Schneider. "

Sure you have to pay 20% more, but that 20% netted the Mets Ryan Church AND Brian Schneider.

Your Season Has Come!

When this letter spends as much time shilling tickets as it does spinning the dreck that is the 2008 Mets, it clearly illustrates where their priority lies.

Who wouldn't want to commit a few grand for 2008, to watch, so far at least, the same team that just collapsed spectacularly, play one last season in the purple, dilapidated septic tank?

Wait a second. "Filling" two key positions...? Weren't those positions already "filled"? Wasn't one of those positions "filled" three times prior? Wasn't the other position only emptied so that they could "fill" it? Can I ask one more question with the word "fill" featured prominently in quotation marks?

They just put you on hold, and the hold music is "EV-REE-BUH-DEE CLAP YO HANDS!"

After 10 minutes straight of clapping, 99.9% of callers hang up, and the other .1% tells Omar it might not be a bad idea to take fliers on Prior, Colon and Shawn Green.

I called them a few weeks ago to do exactly that.

A few days later, someone knocked on my door and said he was from the Mets and that he'd come to "compensate" me. When I opened the door, the guy fired a t-shirt in my face.

Then he pranced into the street, pointed at the roof and fired another one. I think it's still up there.

First they came for the Real Fans, and I said nothing because I did not clap...
