Default ticket prices(from cerrone)

…first off, several readers have e-mailed me to say that the Mets are sending notifications to previous ticket-plan holders announcing an ‘exclusive opportunity’ to purchase seven-packs for next season starting December 18 through the end of the month…so, check your e-mail, i guess…

…second, according to the same e-mails, it appears that ticket prices for next season have been raised as high as 20 percent for some seating levels…

…wow…so, let me get this straight, the team disappoints us, and themselves, they essentially take a step backwards and finish second last season, all while doing nothing - so far - to significantly upgrade the product or experience…yet they have the guts to significantly raise ticket prices…

…on the hand, they’ll probably still sell out, if for no other reason than this is the last season in Shea Stadium…so, what do i know…

By the way, to see recent photos from the construction site of Citi Field, check out Ralf’s pictures at Mets Refugees.

take this with a grain of salt as he's using info from readers.

has anyone else heard this?

People here are going to lose their **** over this, but we all know it's a common practice in all sports.

Hell, look at the Knicks. Aren't they the most expensive ticket in the NBA?

Livan is going to require two buffet tables (three after each of his 5 inning outings)...

The fact that this is common practice doesn't make it right.

I wish people would stop letting greedy pig-f*cking owners screw them over like this, but that's never going to happen.

The Mets will very likely draw 3.5 - 4 million fans this coming season (regardless of how good, bad, or whatever the team is) + 2-3 years of guaranteed sell outs at Citi Field (regardless of how good, bad, or whatever the team is) = why the Wilpons don't give a sh!t

IIAMN, they have not raised their prices (except premium seats) in two years...

The Mets have brass ones here, IMO. I totally believe in what I said in my previous post.

Shea's swan song and 2-3 years of Citi Field = cash cows

NO incentive for Fred/Jeff to put a great product on the field.

As long as they are kids who don't know better, tourists, and businesses getting free tickets, people will come

That's pretty cool Bay. Boone is a smart player, so he'll learn a bit or two. If it was Collins at the camp....well there's always baseball!

The reason for the ticket price increase is probably because there is some tie in, with regards to buying tickets next year. Like seven pack buyers this year get priority for ordering tickets next year or something like that. They know people will pay more this year in order to get tix next year when they are going to be impossible to come by. At least, as far as I know, they aren't making people buy personal seat licenses for next year.

Yeah, I got the 7 pack letter today in the mail. 8 different Packs.

6 have a Yankee game, 1 has opening day, 1 has the Shea Finale. The Finale pack is all Saturday and Sunday games.

I don't understand the indignation over a rise in ticket prices. The Mets are a business. They are entitled to charge whatever they can get away with. If fans think it's a ripoff, they have the right to stay home. Neither side owes anything to the other.

The demand for Mets tickets should be similar to what it was last season. In a lousy division, the Mets should be in the pennant race even if the roster looks exactly the same on April 1st as it does now. In addition, as many of you noted, it will be a big deal for many fans to get out to Shea for one last season. There's no reason for the Wilpons to leave money on the table if fans will pay it out.
