Default WATP - Santana a Yankee

Yanks get Santana, Mets get Hughes and Tabata, and the Twins get Oliver Perez, Carlos Gomez, Mike Pelfrey, and Melky Cabrera.

Perez is a free agent after 2008, and Hughes would give us a solid 2-3 with the great chance of being a top of the rotation ace for years AND dirt cheap. We are basically replacing Hughes for Oliver next year and not having to pay Santana we can resign him next winter. Tabata would pretty much replace Gomez as future OF depth or can be used for another trade.

The Mets and Yankees will never make a bigger trade then Benitez for crap, or Ventura for Justice, even with a third team involved...

Hughes is a great prospect, but nobody is wondering if he's been rushed simply because he threw six no hit innings in his second start. It will be interesting to see how much patience they have with him if he's in the 4.75-5.00 ERA range at the end of April...

Santana can win 4 Cy Youngs with the Yankees, but do you think Hankenstein would be happy to see Hughes winning games for the Mets and Tabata hitting balls out of CitiField?

Tabata is far from a sure thing. Just as much as F Martinez.
As far as Hughes goes, Hanks pain would be lessened by Santanas Cy Young awards.

There's a lot of speculation that Tabata is a younger Miguel Cabrera, and not in good ways. Baseball America said the Yankees had him come to Tampa at 6 AM four times a week while he was hurt, to work out and keep his weight down...

Both of them have had their share of injuries, but I'd be a little worried that an 18 year old could let himself go like that so quickly...
