| It's pretty much the only guy I'll trust after this cluster**** by Omar. Just looking at some of the trades of the top of my head, his "talent evaluators" suck, and he has no idea what to do with prospects. Trades from memory: (Though I did have to look up all the players involved) 1. Bartolo Colon for Lee Stevens, Cliff Lee, Grady Sizemore and Brandon Phillips. Advantage Shapiro 2.) Cliff Floyd, Wilton Guerrero, & Claudio Vargas for Graeme Lloyd, Mike Mordecai, Carl Pavano, and Justin Wayne Advantage Marlins, as Pavano makes it big the next two seasons, including going 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA in the 2003 playoffs. 3.) Cliff Floyd to the Boston Red Sox for Sun-Woo Kim and Seung Song. Red Sox are making a playoff push, and this was the best Omar could get? 4.) Bartolo Colon to the Chicago White Sox for Rocky Biddle, Orlando Hernandez, Jeff Liefer, and cash. I'll say this is even because Colon bolted for FA, but it's unbelievable how much talent was given up for Colon, and how little was returned. 5.) Xavier Nady for Mike Cameron. Even 6.) Xavier NAdy to Pittsburgh for Robo and OP Slightly favors the Mets, but OP has to prove he can continue to be effective, while Nady is proving to be a very serviceable outfielder 7.) Victor Diaz to the Texas Rangers for Mike Nickeas. Advantage Texas, since VD at least won a few games for us. Is Nickeas even still in the system? 8.) Traded for Delgado for with Mike Jacobs, Grant Psomas, and Yusmeiro Petit Even. Great short term trade, but if Delgado does not have a good year in 2008, it will look very bad for Omar 9.) Kris Benson for Jorge Julio and John Maine Advantage Omar... FINALLY! 10.) Traded for Paul Lo Duca, shipping out Dante Brinkley and Gaby Hernandez Advantage Omar... unless of course, Gaby ends up being the real deal in the next year or two. 11.) Jorge Julio for Orlando Hernandez Omar.. Three in a row! 12.) Brian Bannister to KC for Ambiorix Burgos Advantage KC... though this could change, and I don't blame Omar for doing it 13.) Heath Bell to SD for Ben Johnson. Advantage SD. While Bell never put it together in NY, Johnson is a waste of space and time. 14.) Lastings Milledge to WAS for Scneider and Church. Apparently the media likes the deal... but the fans don't.. so advantage WAS. All right, so those are the ones off the top of my head. What else is on Omar's record, because right now... he looks pretty shitty. |

| Super Moderator | I have always been one to believe that the "Full Autonomy" that Omar supposedly has is complete BS.... Like I said, Omar (and the Two Headed Wilpon) better step up next week. Reeling in a top starting pitcher, in my view, would help to heal the wounds of this very shaky deal... If Omar thinks that bringing on a couple of fat bastards at multi-year deals is going to solve anything... then I am convinced he is in way over his head, and needs to go. Just my like that my three favorite teams all have very questionable to lousy ownership (Jets, Mets, Knicks) that are seemingly impeding any significant progress these franchises might be able to make... |

The only part of this deal that I am 100 percent unhappy about is that Omar could not get a pitcher of some kind in the deal. The Nats have a very nice pen... any one of them could have helped bolster the Mets pen. Schneider I really do not want here. Omar is seriously under the gun to get a TOP starting pitcher. If he can't get one... acquire a couple of low risk guys and/or let Pelfrey and Humber (since apparently no one wants them we might as well keep them) have a shot at it. Omar can go straight to sh!tsville, if he does what I think (and man I hope I am wrong) he ends up doing. | |

Baseball clue huh? Right. You know for a trade that NO ONE is saying is worse than the Kazmir deal, we're damn sure treating it like it is. The offseason's halfway over and most of us are already feeling like the 2008 season is over. I'm sorry I haven't taken my number to jump off the nearest bridge on to the ****ing Geneese, but I'm waiting to see what's Omar's full plan.

| Lindstrom and Owens for Vargas. Man would one or both of those guys looked good in the pen last year.

| And when someone insults you, you have a hissy fit and throw your toys out of the pram, now you come across like a 15 year old trying to hang with the cool jocks.

Robo was as good a set-up man as could have been reasonably had on July 31, 2006, and the Mets needed him desparately with Heilman getting toasted nightly and without the foresight than Mota would be brought in and would pitch well. In exchange, the Mets gave up complimentary piece Nady, who was already well past the point where there was any real chance he would develop into anything more than a platoon bat who plays the corners. Where Omar f'd up was to not find another righty bat of any sort to replace Nady (a Conine-type would have been a great fill) but instead to bring in a hugely-expensive and declining Green, though the Green trade made some sense at the time, IMO.
