Default Mets Should Pull Out The Stops To Get Santana

*Johan Santana is a difference maker, the type of player that can rejuvenate an organization that forgot their season lasted into September. Sadly, we did put out the stops. We mentioned our prospects and the Twins stopped talking to us

I just don' see how blowing your entire farm system, thus, leaving your team near barren in 2 years when Pedro, Wagner, Delgado, Catcher are gone and we'd likely see a decline from Castillo. Oh, Duque would be gone as well.

What team would we have if we lost Guerra/Martinez etc? Because without those 2, we have no shot. I think the author forgets that we have some of the worst 'pitching prospects' in baseball. nobody wants Humber, 24 and still not 100% effective from surgery and Pelfrey who, at 23, still has no consistent control of off-speed pitches and hasn't shown the ability to even go past 5 innings.

We wouldn't trade a Santana for those 2 if he was on our team. I think the press needs to start pushing for more over-slot bids on top teir draft talent instead of crying for every big name. Anybody can do that. Let's see fans/journalists actually push for things that would remove the label as the '2nd team in town'
