| Even though, it seems unpopular right now, Omar Minaya is right when he said the Lastings Milledge trade to the Nationals that netted the Mets Ryan Church and Brian Schneider made the team better in 2008. And he expressed that in a conference call with reporters. “I know that names like Schneider... More... |

| Senior Member | I honestly dont have an issue with Omar being short sighted atm...I do believe that more prospects come along....however he has to actually follow thru and this is where I have major doubts. If Gomez and whoever cant net some significant starting pitching upgrades, then this Milledge trade, beyond being short sighted, becomes just stupid. Without pen and rotation help this team doesnt go anywhere and if thats the case then there was no reason to deal away a guy with his kind of talent. |

| HOW are we better? Scheider is toast. He's a guy I literally hoped we'd never ever look at. He'll also make like $10m in 2 years. He's USELESS. Church isn't significantly better either. Nobody else makes this trade. Not one good Gm makes this trade. This was a WILPON trade. You have to know that. Any 'bad seed' potential always gets traded. That's why we haven't had one since Gooden. That's the point, he doesn't want to re-live that. There is no doubt Wilpon ordered this, as he did Kazmir, so he can have meaningful games. Only owner trades can be this pointless and rushed. That's why they have to defend it so much. It's so ****ing obvious, I hope most of the fan base doesn't buy into this insulting garbage. |

| The more I think of it, the less I want to blame Omar. This is Wilpon's way. If you don't like a player, you have to make a trade. And when you HAVE TO, you have no leverage. I think the league knew this. Hell, if we speculated this last year, how does an executive not do the same thing? Omar was effed. I might lay off him due to that. Milledge was exactly what Fred wanted to remove. Just like LoDuca. That said, it's stupid to talk about 'world series' and 'win now' when 25% of your lineup is 2 guys that *nobody* would want, let alone trade anybody young and talented for. We know this because, well, nobody did. And there is a reason for that. Just comedy. I wish Fred would have just said earlier "I don't want him here, get a package for him". He waited too long and Omar has to be sitting with his dick in the wind. I'd bet anything, esp. since the ownership crowed about it, that they meddled in the affairs. And that is dangerous for this team. |
