Default Haren deal?

Read this on Sickel's board. WFAN is talking about the rumors of this potential deal:
Gomez, Guerra, and Mulvey for Calero and Haren

Didn't see it posted elsewhere

Mets Prospectus

Quote:
Newsday is reporting that the Mets are determined to get a trade done with the A's for either pitcher Dan Haren, or Joe Blanton. Now that Garza is off the market, and Santana is most likley not going to happen these seem to be the #1 and #2 options for the Mets.

WFAN is reporting that the Mets could be set to make an offer of Carlos Gomez, Deolis Guerra and Kevin Mulvey Mulvey for Haren and Kiko Calero.

Kiko is a very solid relief pitcher, and if the Mets could trade Pelfrey/Humber instead of Guerra I would do it..

If that's what it would take to get Haren and Kiko it would probably take Gomez and Mulvey to get Blanton and Kiko.

That deal makes little to no sense for the A's. The A's will counter with Milledge, Pelfrey, Heilman and Mulvey.

I see Blanton as a #3-#4 type pitcher and wouldn't give too much for him.

this is all fun jockeying, apparently Minnesota is high on Gomez, I suggest Omer is pushing buttons or something, either way you could not complain about this deal

I've never heard of Calero before, but he looked solid right up to this past season.

How far off is Guerra with regards to major league readiness?

If there is a way to keep Guerra out of that trade, I'd do it. Otherwise, I'm very wary.

Agreed.

That's too much for a guy who at best is a middle of the rotation guy.

Now if they got an ace, and then got Blanton, that's another story.

I don't want to lose Guerra. 18 year olds who can handle High A Ball and develop more velocity, at 6' 5" do not grow on trees.

Not sure if I trust Haren will be the dominant pitcher he was this year. I expected last year's performance from Beckett. Not Haren. This is a tough one.

I'd rather just get Santana and add a bit more if we must lose Guerra/Gomez.
