| What if........... Santana refused to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Yankees?............

| I get the feeling that any team that has the cash to pay Santana what he's asking ($26mm/yr???) is a team for which he will waive his no trade clause. The Yankees would appear to fit that bill. The Mets, not so much. |

| why would he do that? its completely possible that a team that can pay a massive contract just doesnt have the players to pull off a trade for him. if he signed the extension theres no way he can guarantee he got himself the best deal |

| the only thing preventing the Mets from getting Santana or another "available" pitcher will be the reasonability of the other GM, if the Twins can get two of the Yankees pitchers and Cabrera AND if that is enough for them, God bless 'em. as for Livan Hernandez, if he is brought in for the 5th spot to compliment a Santana or Haren or similar, that ain't necessarily a bad thing. |
