What if he demanded to be reunited with the lover he was torn apart from at the trade deadline, Castillo? Maybe that four year deal has more to do with Castillo and his knees then we realize...

if he gets traded to the yanks, after what just happened with A-rod, there's no way he signs an extension. might as well test FA before going back to the yanks.

i mean, sure it would be funny but who cares

But it has ALREADY been reported that he will APPROVE a trade(to select teams) ONLY if he GETS extension NOW...

I get the feeling that any team that has the cash to pay Santana what he's asking ($26mm/yr???) is a team for which he will waive his no trade clause. The Yankees would appear to fit that bill. The Mets, not so much.

There's about as much chance of that as there is of you not looking at porn for the rest of your life.

why would he do that? its completely possible that a team that can pay a massive contract just doesnt have the players to pull off a trade for him. if he signed the extension theres no way he can guarantee he got himself the best deal

what is the concern, if the issue is the Yankees giving up the massively over hyped Joba, then the Mets are in this until George Jr Mr H is full of ****

As Mets fans, all we can do is dream, and hopefully, when we wake up, it ain't Livan Hernandez raiding the fridge...

Or David Wells with an apple in his mouth, as Livan is poised to put him in the oven, while Silva is eating Cheetos and trying to pronounce "repertoire", all this happening in some alternate world created by Jason Jennings....

the only thing preventing the Mets from getting Santana or another "available" pitcher will be the reasonability of the other GM, if the Twins can get two of the Yankees pitchers and Cabrera AND if that is enough for them, God bless 'em.

as for Livan Hernandez, if he is brought in for the 5th spot to compliment a Santana or Haren or similar, that ain't necessarily a bad thing.

If Omar can trade for Haren without having to deal Pelfrey/Humber, there is absolutely no need for El Gordo.

Let Pelfrey have the 5 spot... Humber in AAA.

Martinez
Haren
Maine
Perez
Pelfrey

I'll take it.

Unlikely they can get a pitcher without parting with either Humber or Pelfrey, Livan my not be fit, but he is no Colon and he manages to stay on the mound all year.
