| ESPN - Rival executives: Cubs are willing to trade Prior - MLB On Mark Prior. I have seen few people who have been as electric as he could be. If the Cubs are willing to take a guy a package like Heilman, Gomez and Vargas, I do it in a heartbeat.

| Heilman and Gomez is far too much, IMO, but at a lower price, I agree that the Mets should look at Prior.

Keep in mind the Cubs are trying to trade a guy who's gone from young ace to project in a two year span, and made it be known that they will not attempt to give him a long term extension. They can't possibly ask for the moon here...

| I wouldn't mind the Mets taking a chance on this guy. They'd need another "sure thing" in the rotation incase he goes on the DL again. If we can get Haren for Milledge + or heck Santana for half the Mets farm system, it would definitely be a risk worth taking. Santana/Haren, Pedro, Maine, Perez, and Prior could all win 15+ games if healthy. |

| honestly his arm has not been heavily operated on, the bigger issue at the moment, why in the world trade your better chips for a guy who has rumored to be non-tendered. just for comparison no matter how absurd, the brewers dealt their catcher for Mota and were considering non-tendering their catcher...try to honestly wrap your head around that |

That said, he is someone Omar should keep an eye on. If they are going to get "projects" for Dr. Rick, this one is worthwhile, IMO.

| I don't think much of either guy (Heilman or Gomez), but that is just me. I still think if the Cubs are willing to talk, you take a chance. Lest we forget our No. 1 pitcher is someone coming off surgeries who many scouts thought his arm would fall off as well. If Prior has anything left in the tank he could still be great. And as far as Heilman goes, many writers say the only GM that may still be high on him is Billy Beane. If that is the case save him for Haren/Blanton/Harden, but not taking a look at Prior would be foolish.
