Wonder if this impacts what Minnesota gets for Santana.

We are now out of the running.

The Yankees are getting him if they give up Cano. Unless Delmon will get traded, we are out, as our strength is OF prospects, not pitchers. Humber is a moot point and Pelfrey can't even show 5 good starts on his resume, let alone 3 pitches he can control.

**** us. And I wanted Garza. This is where Omar needs to be more than a big market GM going after name guys. Be savvy. I wonder if our OF prospects could have helped to land him. I bet it wasn't even a thought.

No way. And they are smart to keep him. (Forgive me if you were joking, as I can see why one would do that).

Actually, let me apologize. Instead of saying 'no way' I should have said "probably not". I think the idea of having Kazmir/Garza + their insanely deep farm AND shields would make them a team on the rise. Jesus, they can be scary in time if they fix that pen.

Hell, I'd inquire about Kaz before Santana, just for kicks. I think the team that steals the next young ace will get more return on their investment than the team that lands Johan. Who is the next Beckett? Let's try to get that guy.

But getting back on topic, it's too bad they couldn't max out the value of that psychopath Elijah Dukes. But at least they are FINALLY turning their strength into a good trade. It's nice to see what will be the next trend; trading young players for others. It makes sense, actually.

Rays were reported to be WANTING to mover thier version of L-Millg in D. Young..NICE trade by Twins..he should put up nice #'s in the Dome.. I really hope this means that Twins now put the screws to $kanks and DEMAND CANO...I felt all along Melky was so overated..and Yes this is likely fianl nail in Mets hopes for Santana for stated reasons..but how about this...they will end up moving their STARTING SS in deal in Bartlett.. hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think this is one of those deals that is good for both teams. Tampa really has a glut of OF prospects and really need some pitching.

ESPN - Sources: Rays, Twins close to Young-Garza swap - MLB

Looks like the Rays are going to get Troy Percival was well. They still won't be any good.

Wow, Young K'd 101 more times than he walked last year, 127:26! I know he's only 22 and all, but he was supposed to be a polished can't miss prospect. That's a hell of a lot to improve on right there...

Why? Garza, Rincon, and Bartlett's salaries will total about a months worth of pay on Santana's next contract. They're not really freeing up much money here...

You're about to lose Santana and you're going to deal Garza also? Whats their rotation going to be next year, Liriano and Boof Bonser? atleast with Garza they still have a good staff. Maybe they are making room for Humber and Pelfrey

LOL...so true..

Also doubt it...

M&MD also saying that a rag in Min. says thatTwins are "moving" towards trading NATHAN to BREWERS since they lost F. Cordero.. no word on who...

Twins clearly breaking it down..using Neshek(who was nasty last year at closer)
