Default 4:15 pm Press Conference: Alou and Easley

www.rotoworld.com

Quote:
The Mets have scheduled a 4:15 p.m. EDT conference call, reportedly to discuss the futures of Moises Alou and Damion Easley.

Alou likely will have his $7.5 million club option exercised. The Mets may also have re-signed Easley to a one-year deal.

Not bad. Alou at that price is a good move, even if he misses 1/3 of the season. Easley way overachieved last year based on the lack of production he had given in his last few seasons before that, but he's still a reasonable gamble off the bench. Certainly more useful than Newhan.

Easley is pop off the bench and a decent platoon should the Mets decide to go with him and Gotay at 2B.

In his 80 or whatever games Alou outproduced some fulltime guys. For 7 mill its well worth the gamble. If he does ever make it on the field for even 130 games its a steal.

Anderson is the next guy I'd really like to see locked up

Why guarantee Easley a deal when there is no guarantee he will be 100 percent come ST?

I'm not against him, I would have just invited him to ST.

I'm sure he's got the type of contract that can be eaten if he's not healthy.

That's fair. If nothing else, he earned it.

LOL, but I know what you mean.

He might command 2 years. I'd give it to him anyway...

I'd still like to see Omar snag a legit lefty power bat for the bench...

Easley and Anderson as right and left handed pinch hitters are not too bad. Maybe not the power you might want but definitely good hitters. I hope Mets get Anderson locked up soon

I'm still shocked that Conine did nothing as a Met.

I can't think of very many people who didn't want him off the bench and he just flopped miserably.

How about a Green type... with some speed.

And maybe a Glove?

David Wright when we get Arod?

I think Anderson and/or Easley could platoon and cover some Alou DL stints

Like Green? You mean a slap hitter who can't play D? Why when there's already Chavez and Easley on the bench. Hopefully toss in Anderson there as well. Then the Mets still have Gomez and Martinez in the minors.

Stairs and Lamb are both free agents. Imo either guy would really add alot of pop to the bench.
