Default Forget Arod and Santana

If we move Delgado, how do we get Blaylock for first? He recovered from his injury last year showing some of the promise he had. He wouldn't cost a fortune and could help the offense and defense and give us a franchise first basemen.

And instead of gutting the farm for Santana, we can wait a year and try to steal a guy like Lackey, AJ Burnett or Harden. Big risks, but

Lacky would do well in the NL and IS a big game pitcher. He lives to beat the yankees. I think he can handle the ****ing Phillies.

Burnett is a health risk, but when he's on he is FILTHY. I'd at least ASK what it would take. Wouldn't give up the farm for him, but you never know.

And Harden, it's worth ASKING too because while he is a health risk, he would absolutely lead us to the playoffs.

Pedro/Burnett or Harden or Lacky/Perez/Maine would be as good a 4 as any group. And that doesn't even count Duque.

I want Santana. But he can be had in 2009. Why not try to steal a damn good #2 or 1, but with some potential risk, IF it becomes possible? Hey, it might not be possible. The GM's might ask too much.

But will we get better but not even trying to see if they are available at the right price?

Thoughts? Again, this isn't to say they are going to come cheap or be a sure thing. But it's worth considering. I've seen AJ when he's on. He's electric. And he was ours.

I guess you really do want to get Willie fired.

How about A-Rod and Schilling this year, and worry about Santana next year? Move Wright to LF, let Alou and Milledge share time in RF. Bring back LoDuca, sign Francisco Cordero.

Reyes
Castillo
A-Rod
Wright
Beltran
Delgado
Alou/Milledge
LoDuca

Endy
Gotay
Anderson
Castro
Milledge/Alou

Pedro
Maine
Perez
Schilling
Pelfrey

Cordero
Sanchez
Heilman
Schoeneweis
Feliciano
Wagner
some other guy

Yeah, it's silly...but everyone else is throwing WATP lineups out there, I figured I might as well do the same.

I am THOROUGHLY and COMPLETELY behind Matt here.

(caveat - this is not to be considered a brokebacky invitation.)

I think its not TOO silly, except for Wright to left.... Id let Castillo walk, try Wright at second for a year, when Delgados gone, someone moves to first

I actually don't think it's silly at all, that was more a pre-emptive strike towards the "we don't need A-Rod crowd."

There is NO REASON the Mets can't put that team on the field next season.

so you're saying the mets should offer him more money to be the 8th inning guy and be a closer in a few years than another team will offer him now to close?

Yes, that's what I'm saying...if that's what it takes. The bullpen needs help, Cordero is probably the best arm available.

I like this one. Looks a lot like I would want to go to war with next season.

I will worry about Santana in June, or next winter....

Unless I missed his name on the list, he's not a FA. If so, he doesn't have any choice, does he?
