Default what's YOUR starting point for ARod negotions

Not what he'd get but what you'd bring to the table to begin the discussion.

7 years 182 mill.

So, you are basically saying take a $1M paycut in each of the next years as a gift for opting out of your contract?

The groundwork is already set, you can feel the Mets moving on this jerkoff.

It is going to be 10 years $300M minimum, MINIMUM. I hope the Mets get more than 1 championship from 2008 to 2012, because 2013 to 2017 is going to be comical in what ever iteration the MOFO is in at the point.

What is he going to do, not play this year? I say see what the market will actually bear, wait until someone else makes an offer and offer $10 more.

Agreed on the money vs years argument - but you might as well start at 8/250. I doubt he's taking a contract at a smaller dollar value than the first one...

That is a good tactic, but it won't work with Boras.

I suspect he already has a tentative deal in place. He just wants the Mets to appear to be in to get the other deal exactly how he wants it.

I'd give him the 30 for less years... which gives him one more shot at FA. I think Boras would like that.

5 years, 30-31 mil. Take it or Leave it

I think he would gladly leave it, because I think he is angling for another opt out clause anyway. He may accept that as the point where the opt out kicks in, but he's going to want a lot more cash guaranteed than that.
