Default What's Wally's angle this time?

That Boras uses a lot of big words?

He then went on to detail the wonders A-Rod would perform for SNY ratings and attendance at Citi Field. Somehow, he stopped short of promising better air quality in Flushing, less noise from LaGuardia Airport and better working conditions for the junkyards of 126th Street

This guy is unreal. One day he is demanding the Mets sign this guy, the next he's saying that whoever signs him is a fool. And the real reason for all of this... because mean old Boras criticized the Yankees. What a douche.

Quote:
The real deal-breaker, however, were two words used last week by Hank Steinbrenner in regards to the 2008 season. "Transition" and "patience" were the deal-breakers for Boras and Rodriguez.

"I've known George for 25 years and I've never heard him use those words," Boras said. "I don't know what those words mean. But I do know I have a player who is held accountable for winning in the postseason and there's concern that the direction of the New York Yankees has changed."

In other words, Rodriguez is no longer sure the Yankees are as committed to winning a championship as he is.

Even for Boras, putting that one over takes nerve. Theater of the negotiation is one thing. Theater of the absurd, quite another.

Where did this money suddenly appear from?

It worked with the Mets and Steve Phillips in 2000 before Fred Wilpon got a look at the numbers, and it worked with Tom Hicks and it will work either in L.A. or Chicago or yes, Flushing, now that Wilpon has all that extra cash burning a hole in his pocket.

so lets see, in LESS than 24 hours Wally has chastised the Mets as HAVING to land ARod, and Chastised ARod and his agent for essentially existing.

WOW! Did not see that coming! Does Wally KNOW that his articles are repurposed online, or does he think the paper still goes in the trash each day?

over on Metsblog it's being reported that each team will receive roughly $30 million from mlb.com for the coming year due to its success. There's your new found $30 million!!!

According to Buster Olney, at his blog for ESPN.com, each MLB team will now recieve roughly $30 million every season, maybe more, maybe less, thanks to the success of MLB.com.

wow, so basically the marlins spent 15 million or so on players and made 30 million just on the website... there really should be a league minimum for payroll

He better win the World Series MVP next year if he puts on a Met uniform, that guy gets away with NO at-bats if he takes the Mets for 30 for 10. Not a one. Every time he would step to the plate I would scrutinize everything from his pitch selection to the shade of pastel purple lipstick he is wearing.
