| http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3081529 The Giles brothers reunion with their hometown San Diego Padres lasted only one season. Second baseman Marcus Giles, the younger brother of right fielder Brian Giles, was put on waivers Friday. The Padres owe Marcus a $500,000 buyout of his $4 million option. Not saying he'd be better than castillo, but at one point, this guy was a big pain in our balls. He'd be perfect in the 2 spot, if, and only if, he regained his form from a few years ago, which, dare I say, I believe was related to a certain injectable or rub on substance. He's only 29, and given the right situation, could maybe find some of that old spark. If nothing else, if castillo ends up getting stupid with contract demands, and the mets pass on him, i'd invite marcus to compete with gotay for the starting 2b job.

| Super Moderator | Hudson is arbi eligible this winter. Don't see how the Snakes wouldn't offer it to him, unless they think Augie Ojeda or the young hotshot prospect Callaspo can replace him... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...rt=MLb&id=3415 I agree with Omar if he is taking a holding pattern with Castillo. I don't think teams will be kicking down his door, so why Omar bid against himself here? IMO, Hudson is the better long term choice at 2B. Should the D'Back not offer arbi, Omar should jump on this... Oh, and no to Giles. Last edited by Bay Ridge Dave : 10-27-2007 at 01:41 AM. |

| If Castillo is back, I'd rather have Gotay/Easley as back-ups. If he's not, then Omar will probably look to trading for someone better than Giles. Last year, I wanted Omar to sign him. Now I'm glad he didn't.

| Absolutely. Ever since the use of these compounds has been under increased scrutiny by MLB, Marcus Giles' career has faded. Inviting him would be like a team inviting Brett Boone to ST. What team would ever do that??....Wait a minute...Ummm...Oh well, I guess we'll be seeing Marcus in Port St. Lucie after all. |
