Default El Duque...Good as New..

He finally got that bunion that cost us a post-season appearance fixed. Time now for Omar to sign him to that 5-year deal.."Ya know what I'm sayin'!"

Not for the entire season for this collapse was clearly multifactorial...but this is 2 years in a row that his 40+ year old body failed down the stretch. This year, his injury probably did cause us at least 1 win..which the margin by which we missed the playoffs. Instead of a win with El Duque we saw Brian Lawrence get destroyed by cellar-dwelling teams. Last year, his absence in the post-season really hurt our chances as well.

Honestly, I would have more faith in El Duque next year as a reliever and a spot starter. This would limit his innings and maybe we might get a full season of El Duque. In any case, the starting rotation next year should really shed the 40+ year old starters.

I don't think El Duque ever pitched a full season anywhere. This is the main reason why he is moved around from team to team. I the construction business which I used to be part of they refer to a guy like this as a
"dog f--ker".

I wouldn't blame Duque for anything... I would blame the Mets for constructing a team that depended on him remaining healthy.

ANY team that relies on this guy in a key role deserves what it gets.

Totally agreed. Duque is a GREAT complementary guy to have on your pitching staff.... Asking him to start 30+ games? Well, that ain't gonna happen.
