Default Manny being.....Kevin McReynolds?

When asked yesterday about the uphill battle the Sawks face to get to the WS this year, Kev...err, Manny said:

"Why panic? If we don't do it, we'll come back next year and try again....If it doesn't happen, who cares? There's always next year. It's not the end of the world."

Thank God it wasn't a Mets player with that attitude.

The McGimpy does most things upside down: eats, sleeps (an average of 23 hours per day), mates, and gives birth. Because of the McGimpy's upside down life, many of the McGimpy's internal organs (liver, stomach, spleen, pancreas) are in different positions from other mammals. McGimpy sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the McGimpy goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

So, he's saying if they lose tonight...he'll be disappointed but not devastated. Will he also reveal that the Red Sox got bored with their talent after beating the Angels?

Consider what happened to Donnie Moore before getting on him to much....

I don't necessarily want to hear it, but Ramirez has won a ring and has spent a lifetime in the post season, unlike Delgado who got bored with it after winning the NL East a whopping one time.

Yeah, it's not like a Mets player said "We're so good sometimes we get bored." or anything like that...

Delgado's comment can be interpreted according to the ears/eyes of the beholder. What I read was that "we (the team) played like we were bored. And to me that sounded like a criticism of the attitude, though he did include himself.

As for Glavine, about a month or two before the end of the season he was asked what might influence his decision re:retirement. And his answer was along the lines of "I want another ring. If we get one, I'll probably retire on top. But if we don't, my desire for one might bring me back."

But neither of those, or any others on the Mets, comes close to "Who cares?".

Bill,

Comments aside, I was not impressed with Delgado's leadership. This is man who made it to the post season once in his career. One time. There should have been a sense of urgency.

I am guessing the reason he said it is because he's got a ring and he knows that baseball isn't life. I technically agree. But I can see why Sox fans would be upset. Though I think they should take their ire towards Theo "Hey, we can't hit, we can pitch, let's get more pitching" Epstein and Tito "Hey, Coco can't hit, Ellsbury can, let's watch coco fly out 3 times a game" Francona.

Manny can take a **** on the reporters shoe and put on a Yankees cap and he still deserves to have his shoes polished.

I hate to say it but Manny is saying just how most players feel. If they lose most players are not devastated(ask Tom Glavine). Unfortunately it is just a job for them. Fans are the ones who get emotionally invovled. Players grab their paychecks and go their merry way. Case in point, Jeter, less than a week after a playoff loss was in a Miami hotel room partying it up with 2 young ladies(according to the NY Post's page 6). He didn't seem too devastated about his team's first round loss, and he's supposedly Capt. Clutch who takes losses the hardest. Manny was just too stupid to let how he feels be known. Most other players are much more media savvy.

This IS Manny Ramirez we're talking about. The guy who listened to his ipod sunglasses out in the field sometimes. He's an idiot savant and everyone knows it. Meanwhile he's the all time postseason HR leader, tonight he could tie the record for the longest LCS hitting streak, and just absolutely terrifying to any pitcher who faces him in a tough spot in October. There's a reason Sox fans I know don't take this crap seriously.
