| Tony Batista-3B- Nationals Apr. 20 - 3:12 pm et Tony Batista missed the cycle by a single Thursday for Triple-A Columbus. Batista is batting .326/.340/.478 in 46 at-bats. The Nationals hope to never have any use for the 33-year-old, but if he keeps hitting over .300, perhaps another team will want him as a part-time player. |

| Can he play any other positions? Bench players need more versatility than just being a corner infielder.

| At this point in their careers, Tony Batista is basically Damion Easley - some HR pop, can play a plausible infield (I figure Batista, a former middle infielder, could play around the infield if necessary, though he hasn't done that recently), but has no other tools. All things being equal, I would have rather brought Tony Batista into camp as an NRI instead of guaranteeing Damion Easley money. Batista would also probably be a better bet than Fernando Tatis as an emergency spare part stashed away at AAA.
