Starters don't go any longer than seven innings these days under the best of conditions. The 'pen is gonna see significant work. That's a given. Wagner needs to stop ****ing whining.

I think Peterson should not escape unscathed.

Of course Wagner blames Willie...because it deflects it from the 3 games that the team handed to him and he choked on in Sept

Wagner's backtracking from the published comments. He gives a somewhat plausible explanation for how the comments were taken out of context...

http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/art...=.jsp&c_id=nym

Wagner said Sunday that he meant to say a manager or a pitching coach with no experience closing games couldn't help him when he was on the mound with a lead in the ninth inning. He reiterated that both Randolph and Peterson do a fine job, and that his quotation was in no way meant to be a criticism.

Wagner apologized to both men Sunday morning after he saw the article.

All the head way this guy has made with Maine and Perez, do we really want to see him be the sacrificial lamb because Mike Pelfrey laid an egg in April and May and Tom Glavine shat the bed down the stretch, not just yesterday but in all three of his final starts.

There would be a certain uncanny irony if Fred Wilpon were to make Peterson the poster child for failure when his hand picked union construction commercial poster boy of Family Oriented Metland hurled an ungem.

Not to mention mr bunyons.

A healthy Pedro, Maine, Perez, either Humber or Pelfrey and a top flight starting pitching acquisition. I imagine that by mid July Peterson may look brilliant again.

I know this sucks, but he is has done more good than harm. This has to be about 2008 and not 2007, and two huge pieces of 2008 are guys who jumped up a level this year.

NICE. LMAO.

As for Peterson...

If they fire Willie, Peterson has to go too.

I think it is doing a mgr or coach an disservice by not letting him pick his coaching staff.

No disagreement on the last point at all. If they fire Randolph, they should fire Minaya, and if they fire Minaya the Wilpons should sell the team. Like I said everyone had a hand in this, everyone.
