Default 4 way tie

Just got it from Sommers. Mets and Phils play for the division. Loser plays in Colorado, S.D. gets a bye and I dont know why. The winner of the Colorado game plays SD for the WC. Got it?

SD gets a bye because they'd have the best record against the two teams they're tied with head-to-head...whatever team has the best record gets to pick whether they want two home games or one road game. That means that SD apparently chose one road game...

Which, if it came to it, would be at Shea (assuming of course the Mets are the other team left).

Here's the tiebreaking head-to-head records...

Rockies, Padres, Mets
Padres: 4-2 vs Mets, 4-2 vs Rockies (8-4, .667)
Rockies: 4-2 vs Mets, 10-8 vs Padres (14-10, .583)
Mets: 2-4 vs Padres, 2-4 vs Rockies (4-8, .333)

Rockies, Padres, Phillies
Padres: 3-4 vs Phillies, 4-2 vs Rockies (7-6, .538)
Rockies: 4-3 vs Phillies, 10-8 vs Padres (14-11, .560)
Phillies: 4-3 vs Padres, 3-4 vs Rockies (7-7, .500)

So actually, the Rockies have the choice if it's the Phillies who are involved...

I don't understand any of this. It does not make any sense to me.

The team with the highest total win percentage in games between the three teams that are tied gets to pick whether they are team A, B, or C. The team with the second best record gets second choice, and the third team gets whichever is left. From there...

Team A hosts Team B
winner hosts Team C

In other words (like I said above), whichever team has the best record gets to choose between two home games or one road game.

Let's hope it's a moot point. All the pressure, in my opinion anyway, is on Philadelphia now. The whole hunter vs. hunted thing. They played tight today and you could almost sense the crowd (and hopefully the players) waiting for the other shoe to drop. The Mets looked as loose as they've been all year.

Hopefully we get treated to an encore tomorrow. The Phillies can then go wipe their asses with those stupid towels.

I don't understand how the Mets would still qualify for consideration as the Wild Card if they lose a one game playoff to the Sillies, which is my understanding of all of this. Based upon the extra game loss, how would they still be considered as a WC team?

Met game starts 25 minutes before the Sillies game tomorrow. I'd love for them to post 4 or 6 runs in the first inning, so the score is on the board before the Sillies start their game...
