Default The Apple is the key

Away record 2006 = 47-34, best in NL
Away record 2007 = 47-34, best in MLB

The home record dropped from 51-30 to 40-39 (so far).

1 - The team is the same on the road, so it's something at Shea.
2 - CitiField is being built right next door.
3 - This August the announcement was made that the Apple would not be moving to CitiField.

You may think the Apple is nothing more than a 25 year old, 800 pound collection of plaster, steel and mesh, but it has MOJO!

Pity the poor Apple, knowing that it has had a death sentence passed on it.

Save the Apple, save the season!

SAVE THE APPLE!

Maybe I got this wrong, but Jeff Wilpon told me and a few other reporters last week when we toured the Citi Field site, the Apple will be there. Maybe not the same Apple, but something of a likeness.

I heard that as well. I think this thread was started regarding the likelihood that the current apple may become apple sauce thus creating a negative Karma at Shea.

From Savetheapple.com

"We are not stupid. Please do not treat us as such.
We are well aware that the pictures of Citi Field show an apple in the outfield."

"Our mission and message is simple: the Apple must stay. When the Mets move into Citi Field in 2009, the Apple must move with them. We don't want to see a new Apple, an updated Apple, or a modernized Apple. We don't want to see a replica Apple. We don't even want to see a cleaned up and repaired Apple. We want to see the same lumpy, grimy, dented, beat up Apple that's been sitting behind the center field wall in Shea Stadium for 27 years."

I actually would be quite happy with a cleaned up and repaired Apple.

I took the Citi Field tour on Thursday, and the tour guide specifically said there would be an apple. But for the mojo, it must be The Apple.

Have the last 26 years been so great that we need to keep this rotting symbol of futility in a shiny new ball park?

I'm as sentimental as the next guy, but come on.
