| Yep...there was our leader before the game. Hasn't talked to the media in months. We sit there in the wind and rain. We sit there watching game after game, the lead disappear from our fingertips. We've got three games left. We have to win each and every one of them. And what does Delgado have to say? What's his rally cry to us Mets faithful? "It is what it is. Saying we have to win doesn't do us any good. We just have to play." F*CKING WONDERFUL!!! I've been saying it all season. Look no further than this f*cking waste of absolute space. This guy is the reason for our appalling season. He really is. He really, really is. F*ck him. Get out there and win. Reyes, Wright...get up off the f*cking floor. Stop listening to this f*cking political placement. Get up off your ass and win. No wonder he doesn't like war. You actually have to WIN war. He's walking into every game waving the white flag of surrender. "It is what it is. Saying we have to win doesn't do us any good. We just have to play." Assh*le. Yeah. Do what you've done for two weeks. Just play. Nevermind winning. Just play. He's playing us all for idiots, that's what he's playing. Doesn't matter whether you win, right? Because you still get f*cking paid. No wonder he rejected a trade into a pennant race after never winning sh*t. He doesn't believe in winning. He just believes in going out there. It is what it is. And he is what he is. Delgarbage. Great f*cking attitude. And it's an attitude that's been there all season. No wonder this team is on the verge of history. "It is what it is. Saying we have to win doesn't do us any good. We just have to play." Dump Delgado. Let's go f*cking Mets. |

I saw that too. The guy DOES seem like he doesn't hate the thought of lying on a Beach in Puerto Rico next Weds.

| Just so history doesn't get clouded here, a couple of hours after these comments, Delgado was caught dogging it between second and third base and nearly got thrown out at home. In absolute must-win Game 160 of the season. $14.5 million. "It is what it is. Saying we have to win doesn't do us any good. We just have to play." Yeah. Go ahead. Blame the pitching. Point out some big hit he got last year. The guy doesn't give a flying f*ck, it's obvious, and he's the reason this team has become so lifeless and complacent. |

| I can't stand Delgado! I completely agree with you. Just get rid of this guy! That kind of attitude is definitely not needed in the clubhouse. Can you imagine him saying this if this were the yankees. George would have a field day! |

| I guess this gets interpreted based on previous feelings about CD. All I see there is that he's saying that "saying we have to win doesn't do any good". He's talking about the importance of doing it on the field. There's nothing in his comment that minimizes winning. If anyone here really feels saying you must win is more important than doing it, raise your hand.

And that is another problem. The fact that Willie pulled Reyes earlier in the year and then lets this POS get away with the same thing. I think that move by Randolph with Reyes and the double standard Willie exhibits may have helped to bring about Reyes' downfall. We've got serious problems with the makeup of this team and Delgado is one of those problems, IMO.

| Listen, Jersey. I am entitled to my opinion. Reyes has not seemed the same to me since that day. And by the way, I agreed with what Randolph did. However, he should apply it consistently. I have seen SEVERAL Mets jogging around the bases and there has been no spotlight placed on them by our fearless leader like he did with Reyes. And by the way, I am not the only person that has noticed that something has changed about how reyes plays the game since that day. Something has not been right with him for quite a while. Some people link it to Ricky Henderson's influence. I don't. I think something changed in his attitude for the NEGATIVE the day Randolph embarrassed him( I'm saying that looking at it from Reyes' perspective). It started out to be subtle and has slowly gotten worse. And by the way, that said, I DO think Reyes has been over-rated. But that doesn't totally explain the steady decline this year especially when you compare it to his game last year.

| I agree that Delgado absolutely killed the Mets this year with his early season struggles, his lack of productivity in clutch situations, and his infectious, laid back attitude. That being said, I still think he's a decent option for us at first base next year. The guy still has some pop and there's always the possibility that he'll have a huge, bounce back season. We just can't count on him to be a middle-of-the-order monster or a team leader. Those roles have to fall to other guys. |

| Sure. And Ron Darling and Gary Cohen must have those same "previous feelings". Cohen rightfully excoriated him for dogging it in this important a game. And Darling later quoted the inanity of his pregame comments (without naming his name), and corrected him. I believe it went something like "Some pregame comments were, 'we don't have to go out and force anything, just play'. Well, you do have to go out and force something. Force the issue. Make something happen." |
